Top Halloween Parades, Parties, and Events in America

If you have outgrown trick or treating then consider attending one of these super Halloween events around the country.  What is the largest, oldest, best depends on a number of factors?  These are some must see events that you should add to your personal bucket list.

Bucket List Halloween Parades
No list would be complete without adding New York’s Village Halloween Parade held in Greenwich Village.  It is unique in that it is a nighttime parade started back in 1973..  Wear a costume and join the parade.  Now celebrating 41 years it features 50 marching bands, 60,000 costumed participants, hundreds of huge monster puppets; and estimates of up to two million spectators.  The giant monsters are fascinating props.  See the featured video below of this New York City parade.

In no particular order see one of these great Halloween parades.  Plan to see the Krewe of Boo in New Orleans; Little 5 Points Halloween Festival and Parade near Atlanta; and Toms River Halloween Parade in Toms River, New Jersey.  More than 100,000 spectators attend the Toms River event.

More Notable Halloween Parades
Rutland, Vermont has the longest continuous running Halloween parade dating back to 1960.  Anoka, Minnesota claims to be the Halloween Capital of the World.  They began their parade back in 1920 but missed a few years here and there.  Also Hiawatha, Kansas claims the first Halloween parade in 1914 but it was called another name.  Does that still count?  More notable parades happen in Vienna, Virginia; Long Beach, California; and San Francisco.  Perhaps the most fascinating parade is the Haute Dog Howl’oween Parade in Long Beach.  Yep it is a costume parade with more than 800 costumed dogs.

Top Halloween Parties
I want to say you can’t miss Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party held at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.  Actually try Universal if you are in Orlando.  Another first class event.

The top Halloween Parties probably go to Festival of the Dead in Salem, Massachusetts; West Hollywoods Halloween Costumes Carnaval in California; or the World’s Largest Halloween Party at the Louisville Zoo in Kentucky.  All are huge party events with West Hollywood getting over a half million partiers.

It is hard to leave out an adult themed party in where else Las Vegas.  The Hard Rock hosts the Fetish and Fantasy Halloween Ball.  The best of the many Halloween night events in Las Vegas.
