Kalakaua Avenue comes alive with a colorful procession of female and male pau horseback riders, floats covered with Hawaiian flowers, Hawaiian music, hula halau and local marching bands. Route goes from Ala Moana Park through Kalakaua Avenue to Kapiolani Park.

Kaua’i Mokihana Festival - Waimea, HI - Sep 24 to Sep 30, 2023
A week-long celebration of Hawaiian culture. A variety of events are planned including music and hula competitions. The festival started in 1984 as the Kaua’i Composers Contest and Concert, put on by the musical group Malie with a grant from thhe Hasegawa Komuten Relations Board, and has grown into a week-long festival that aims to educate, promote, preserve, and perpetuate the Hawaiian culture for all people.

Duke’s OceanFest - Honolulu, HI - Aug 18 to Aug 27, 2023
Duke’s OceanFest features a variety of ocean sports close to Duke Kahanamoku’s heart, including Longboard Surfing, Paddleboard Racing, Swimming, Tandem Surfing, Surf Polo, Beach Volleyball, and Stand-Up Paddling. The annual festival, held on the shores of Waikiki in August, celebrates Duke Kahanamoku’s life, his athletic contributions and his spirit that continues to live on.

Matsuri Kauai - Lihue, HI - Oct 10 to Oct 11, 2020
Canceled for 2022, look for their return in 2022. Normally: The festival will showcase different groups of Japanese talents and Japanese culture on Kauai. Taiko performances and classical Japanese dances will also be featured. Usually a featured performance from Japan is presented at this event along with some hands on activities (i.e. oshibana, origami, oshie), crafts, kimono dressing, tea ceremony, shodo, bonsai, ikebana, etc. The event will be held at Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall, Lihue. The event is free and open to the public.
