Fall Virginia Festivals in 2016

If you live in VA, you will find plenty of fall festivals to choose from in 2016.  We have already found dates for more than 50 fall and harvest festivals around the state, including plenty of options near NOVA, Charlottesville, Roanoke, Richmond and Norfolk.  Choose one that celebrates your favorite food.  Find a music festival to enjoy some tunes. Or simply look for the closest party to your location.  Any method works when you have so many things to do available in Virginia in the autumn.

Verizon Wireless American Music Festival – Virginia Beach, VA – September 2-4, 2016.  Check the 5th Street Stage at the Dairy Queen near 17th Street park. 

Taste of the Mountains Street Festival – Madison, VA – September 3, 2016
One of the areas top festivals since 1992.  It features wine tasting, great foods, civil war reenactment, and craftsmen.  Good fun for the whole family.  Held at Kemper Residence, Rt 1 Box 73, Madison, VA.

Savor and Sip Culpeper – Culpepper, VA – September 3, 2016
Eleventh annual “Savor and Sip Culpeper – a Wine, Food, and Arts Festival” happens in the Depot District on Davis and Commerce Streets from Noon – 5:00 PM. Sample more than 30 different wines, Waiters Race, cooking demonstrations and live music. Free activities for kids include a moonbounce, art projects, and games.

Orange Street Festival – Orange, VA – September 3, 2016.  The 41st anniversary of this popular festival features over 150 vendors, specialty food makes, live music and beers.  Located along Main Street and inside Taylor Park.

Virginia Scottish Games – September 3-4, 2016
Competitions include athletics, bagpipes, Highland dancing, British car / bike show and children’s games.

Appaloosa Festival – Front Royal – VA – September 3-4, 2016
A roots music festival in the Shenandoah Valley over Labor Day weekend.  30+ bands play bluegrass, celtic, Americana, country folk and more.

Neptune’s Fall Wine Festival – Virginia Beach, VA – September 17-18, 2016
20th annual event. Oceanfront wine tasting with live entertainment and food.

Fredericksburg Dog Fair & Masquerade Dog Parade – Fredericksburg, VA – September 17-18, 2016.  The Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center hosts pets of all kinds including dogs, cats, pigs, lizards, and so much more.  Information on clubs, animal rescue, veterinarians and more.

Graves Mountain Resort Apple Harvest Festival – Syria, VA – October 1-2, 8-9, 15-16, 2016.  Features Bluegrass music, arts and craft vendors, good food, hayrides, and lots of apples and apple butter making.  Also pick your own apples from the orchard.  Located at Green Mountain Lodge, 3626 Old Blue Ridge Turnpike, Syria.

Suffolk Peanut Festival – Suffolk, VA – October 6-9, 2016
39th anniversary. A family friendly event recognizing the city’s agriculture heritage and devotion to peanuts. Concerts, amusement rides, contests and competitions, a demolition derby, a truck and tractor pull, motorcycle rally, fireworks. More than 100,000 attend over the course of the 4 day event.

Colonial Beach Bike Fest – Colonial Beach, VA – October 6-9, 2016
Bike show, beer gut contest, 911 wings challenge, games, art walk, live music and fall harvest celebration.

Craig County Fall Festival – New Castle, VA – October 8, 2016.  Visit The Old Brick Hotel for their 34th Annual fall festival on Main Street in New Castle.  Four block of antique cars, local music groups, food, horse rides, and kids activities.

39th annual event. Arts & crafts, food vendors, three stages of music & entertainment, and children’s activities.

Chesapeake Virginia Wine Festival – Chesapeake, VA – October 8, 2016.  Back for another year is this wine tasting event from over twenty premier Virginia Wineries.  All activities are at the Chesapeake City Park.

Virginia Fall Foliage Festival Art Show – Waynesboro, VA – Oct 8-9, 2016

Virginia Wine & Garlic Festival – Amherst, VA – October 8-9, 2016.  “Always a Stinkin’ Good Time”.  This popular event is held at Rebec Vineyards, 2229 N Amherst Hwy, Amherst.  It features live music, arts, crafts, tastings, and over 150 arts and craft vendors.  This is Virginia’s largest agricultural festival.

Shenandoah Fall Foliage Bike Festival – Staunton, VA – October 14-16, 2016.  Celebrate 25 years of local cycling in Shenandoah Valley.  A full weekend of sightseeing and riding.  Features breakfast and lunch activities.

Poquoson Seafood Festival – Poquoson, VA – October 14-16, 2016
36th anniversary event. 2 stages of live entertainment. Workboat Races on the Chesapeake Bay kick-off the festival. Plenty of fresh seafood and arts & crafts.

Northern Virginia Brewfest – Centreville, VA – October 15-16, 2018
open from 11 AM to 7 PM on Saturday and 11 AM to 7 PM on Sunday. Beer pours stop one hour before closing. Held at Special Events Center at Bull Run Regional Park.

Annandale Parade – Annandale, VA – Oct 22, 2016.  The Annandale Parade is billed as “The Best Small Town Parades in America”.  Find clowns, marching bands, fire trucks, dancers, and more at this 65 year old tradition.

Powhatan’s Festival of the Grape – Powhatan, VA – October 22, 2016
14th annual event.

Central Virginia Celtic Festival and Highland Games – October 22-23, 2016

Goblins and Gourds – Richmond, VA – October 23, 2016.  A harvest celebration with live music, pumpkin painting, green food options and of course children’s goblin activities.

Black Dog Music & BBQ Festival – Floyd, VA – August 8, 2015.  Held at Chateau Morrisette’s this annual event features a Kansas City Barbeque Society competition, with great live music, Virginia wines, and great food.

September 2015:

Labor Day Festival – Herndon, VA – September 7, 2015.  On Monday it features a wine and craft brew tasting event.  Also there is a concert on the green with food vendors, wineries, and brewers.  Lots of fun for everyone.

RVA Street Art Festival – Richmond, VA – Sept 10-13, 2015

Bay Days – Hampton, VA – September 11-13, 2015
The 33rd annual event will attract over 200,000 visitors to the city’s downtown waterfront. Live music, 8K Run, car & motorcycle show.

Virginia Wine Festival – The Plains, VA – September 12-13, 2015
39th annual event held at Great Meadows.

Cox Farms Preview Weekend – Centreville, VA – September 19-20, 2015.  Features giant slides, apples, cider, live animals, pumpkins and foods.  Note Cos Farms has fall activities running through November 8th.

Taste of Freedom Wine Festival – Montpelier, VA – September 19, 2015
Enjoy Constitution Day at James Madison’s Montpelier. Take the 11 mile round-trip Liberty Ride. Breweries and wineries, arts & crafts, food vendors, live music, children’s entertainment and more.

Stratford Hall Wine and Oyster Festival – Stratford, VA – September 19-20, 2015.  Sample Chesapeake Bay seafood recipes, have a beer, view craftsmen and ride the Bay Transit Trolleys.  Experience colonial chocolate making, kids rides, and much more.

Fredericksburg Area Wine Festival – Fredericksburg, VA – October 3-4, 2015
Ten wineries offer samples and the opportunity to purchase more than 100 varieties of wine from Virgnia Beer garden hosted by the All-American Girls. Food vendors, live music, arts & crafts and more.

Harvest Days Festival – Clarksville, VA – October 2-3, 2015.  Festival includes the Oktoberfest beer garden, Fall Craft Beer, live music, good food, seasonal craft vendors, farm animals, rides, and lots of kids activities.

2nd Street Festival – Richmond, VA – October 3-4, 2015.  Celebrating 27 years of this fun downtown Richmond event.  Music by the Hands of Time group.  Enjoy additional four stages of music, good food, family fun, and children’s activities.

Sinkland Farms Pumpkin Festival – Christiansburg, VA – Saturdays, October 3-4 through October 31, 2015.  Open every weekend in October.  Features the Punkin’ Chunkin’ World Champion Team Carbo demonstration.  This is a huge farm festival with everything for a weekend of family fun.  Music, food, crafts, dancing, kids zone activities, and so much more.

Richmond Folk Festival – Richmond, VA – October 9-11, 2015
11th annual event. More than 150,000 reportedly attended.

Famous Fall Fling – Wise, VA – October 10-11, 2015
Arts, crafts, food and music at Courthouse Mall. Enjoy the fall colors, vendors and live traditional music. There are also lots of contests, including essay, photo and art contests, a 5K race and the new Anything Apples Contest. There will also be a Kids Korner with activities for children.

Waynesboro Fall Foliage Festival – Waynesboro, VA – October 10-11, 2015.  Downtown Waynesboro turns into a fabulous outdoor art gallery with over 200 artists.  Also find crafts, pottery, jewelry, sculpture and more.

Clifton Forge Fall Festival – Clifton Forge, VA – October 16-18, 2015.  See magnificent fall foliage in the Alleghany Highlands’ forests.  Activities include live music, homemade foods, arts and crafts, and lots of antiques.  Sponsored by the Shrine Club.  Find activities throughout downtown Clifton Forge.

Chocolate Festival – Charlottesville, VA – October 17, 2015.  Back for their 9th year this Chocolate Chase 5K Run & Walk headlines the festival held by the First United Methodist Church.

Cornerstone Festival – Chatham, VA – October 17, 2015.  A daylong event filled with good old family fun.  The festival starts at 10am with a huge craft, famers and sales market.  Free children’s activities from a bounce house to face painting, pony rides, pumpkin patch and more.  Live music performed throughout the day.  Live auction scheduled between bands.  Foods such as stew, hot dogs, funnel cakes, and food court available.  Proceeds benefit Cornerstone Church.  Located at 1186 Fairview North, Chatham, VA 24531.

Alexandria Family Fall Festival – Alexandria, VA – Oct 17, 2015.  A family tradition held at Armistead L. Boothe Park at 520 Cameron Station Blvd.  Features fall activities including pumpkin decorating, arts and crafts, food vendors, puppet show, pony rides and live music.

Stuart Apple Dumpling Festival – Stuart, VA – Oct 17, 2015

Spring Town Point Virginia Wine Festival – Norfolk, VA – October 17-18, 2015.  Stop by Town Point Park in Downtown Norfolk.  Find a full group of wineries, culinary experiences, and a full schedule of live music and events.

Virginia Beach Craft Beer Festival – Virginia Beach, VA – October 17-18, 2015.  This see the festival is under a huge tent right on the beach.  More than 80 venders and 50 craft brews.  Park at 31st Street City Garage.

Wine & Unwind Wine Festival – Salem, VA – October 18, 2015.  Sample wines, taste food, dance to good music and enjoy the arts and crafts.  Held annually at the Salem Civic Center.

Fall Harvest Family Days at Mount Vernon – Mount Vernon, VA – October 24-25, 2015.  Enjoy wagon rides, 18th century dancing demonstration, straw bale maze, apple-roasting, doll demonstrations, and of course great food and live music.  Located at George Washington’s Mount Vernon, 3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Mount Vernon.

The Farm Museum Fall Festival – Heathsville VA – October 24-25.
Hayride, Pumpkin picking, Corn maze. Face Painting, Live music by Reno Hill on Saturday and HonkyTonk Heroes Acoustic Duo on Sunday. Bounce Barn, Food, Artists and Crafters

Annual Church Bazaar – McGaheysville Methodist Church – Oct. 24, 2015
Just off of Route 33 East from Harrisonburg Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Handmade featured items include: Quilts, Children’s quilts, Christmas trees, Wreaths, Cakes and Candies, Jewelry, Cookie jars, Christmas pillows, Decorated Sweatshirts and T-shirts, Wooden shelves, books, and much more. The Country Kitchen features soup, sandwiches, desserts and drinks. Door prizes will be available to those who purchase items. Prizes include; a quilt, P. Buckley Moss print, and other items. Money earned from the Bazaar goes to missions and church programs. Everyone is welcome!

November 2015:

Virginia Thanksgiving Festival – November 1, 2015.  Berkeley Plantation hosts this old time celebration with reenactments of Virginia’s First Thanksgiving.  Other fun includes dancing, music, food, crafts, and children’s games.

Craftsmen’s Classic Art & Craft Festival – Richmond, VA – October 30 – November 1, 2015. 

Urbanna Oyster Festival – Nov 6-7, 2015.  No admission fees to this pay as you go walking festival.  They close downtown for loads of vendors, crafts, foods and visitors.

InLight Richmond -Richmond – November 13, 2015.  Free public exhibition of light-based art and performances.  Hosted at Monroe Park from 7:00 pm to 12:00 am.

Holiday Craft Show – Fairfax – Nov 21-22, 2015
28th annual event. Admission is $5 per day or $8 for the two-day pass.

Virginia Moonshine Festival – Richmond – November 21, 2015.  Richmond International Speedway hosts this event with shine, swine, and BBQ and lots of music included.

Richmond Cider Celebration – Nov 14, 2015
Sample a variety of cider from Virginia’s best cider makers.

  1. Fall Festival 2013

    The changing of the leaves, the cool crisp air, and hot apple cider seem to turn the fall into the season of festivals. Packed with hayrides, pumpkins, slides, making s’mores by the bonfire and more. Ticonderoga Farms is the place you want to visit for all the fun of fall this year.

    All our Fall Pumpkin Festival activities will be here for you and your family. Enjoy the great outdoors, the colors of fall and take a break from your busy schedules.

    The admission includes hayrides, activities and access to the pick your own pumpkin field. Don’t forget to get your own pie size pumpkin included with paid admission. Children under the age of 2 (23 months or younger) are free. Festival is Mid September to first week of November.
