It is easy to cherish the dignity of a person we love. It is much harder to recognize and honor the dignity of a person who is troublesome, inconvenient, challenging, or threatening in some way. In Jesus name, and in Jesus memory, it is precisely this that we are called to do: cherish, honor, and love without distinction. Danielle Zsupan-Jerome

I live on the border and witness firsthand the devastation wrought by our broken immigration system. It has led to human smuggling, sex trafficking, child abuse and organized crime infiltrating even the highest levels of local government, which is predominantly Democrat. Three of the four counties in this area had their sheriffs serve time in federal prison for aiding drug smugglers. NONE of this is addressed by local religious and political leaders EVER. While stash houses, attacks on border patrol and police officers and drownings of economic refugees enticed by the growing demand for open borders make the nightly news, these same religious and political leaders retreat to their gated subdivisions. Safe behind burglar bars and with security systems armed, they issue press releases similar to this one, selectively reminding the faithful of our duty to welcome the stranger while they will not so much as lift a finger to do so. See Abby Johnson's personal experience at the Respite Center run by Catholic Charities this past Saturday if you want proof! It is a shame that your posts began this morning with an awesome interview of your pastor offering practical counsels to living the faith and ended with a one sided view of a complex problem. If it was only about practicing the corporal works of mercy, that would be great. Unfortunately, it is also about receiving large amounts of federal funding to perpetuate a failed charitable system that requires more and more foreign victims daily while locals in need are seldom assisted.

What advice would you give to young people going through a tough time so that they still believe in God? And, how do we keep the youth on track when they begin to stray from Catholicism?
