It has been made into a science fiction action adventure film by Steven Speilberg. The film is set in 2045. James Halliday has left his fortune to the first person to find a digital easter egg in a virtual reality universe called OASIS. In the OASIS, anything is possible. The movie's release is set for March 2018.
