Funtober Countdown To Halloween 2014

We continue to find lots of fun events on our “more things to do journey”.  Let us know if you find local events we should know about.  We appreciate the help.  Today is Day 219 on our countdown.

Universal Studios theme park will open their popular Halloween Horror Nights on September 19, 2014.  It will be open for a record 28 nights.  Halloween Horror Nights is in its 24th year.

Did you know that beer judges the world over disagree over the rules which determine marzen German style beer from an Oktoberfest beer? Both are similar to a Vienna Lager.  Find the answers on our beer pages.

Temptation Resort Spa in Cancun has announced a different twist to typical Oktoberfest celebrations.  The all inclusive adults only resort will host Oktoberfest from October 3rd through the 25th for 22 days and nights.  They invite you for pretzels, brats, beer and surprises.  Oh the resort is topless optional.

The Jaycees are a community organization which runs haunted houses as part of their charity fundraising.  Funtober just posted a list of the 26 Jaycees Haunted Attractions we found across America for 2014.  These are excellent haunts some of which have operated for as long as 40 years.  Let us know if we missed any.

We also added to our Zombie Paintball Locations page with Paintball Arkansas in Conway; Splat Tag Zombie Hunt in Stillwater, MN; Buschwackers Zombie Paintball in Bridgeton, MO; and Paintball Explosion in East Dundee, Illinois.  Many of these paintball locations operate throughout the year and not just at Halloween.

I absolutely loved Samantha Dillinger’s post on Ranker.  She lists 48 unique fun things to do that make fall special.  Check out the link to “The Best Things About Fall” that I put on our Favorite Funtober Websites page.  What would you rank as your top six?  She lists Autumn Leaves; Crisp Air; Comfy Clothes; Halloween; The Weather; and Thanksgiving as the first six of her 48 items.  My favorites probably are Fall Festivals; Halloween; Baseball World Series; Thanksgiving; Autumn Leaves; and Cider Mills.
