Gladiator costumes became popular again following the 2000 movie “Gladiator” starring Russell Crowe.  Roman costumes from the same period depict the upper royalty of Roman society and the slaves who fought to the death in the Coliseum.  We have both the Roman soldier costumes and the beautiful Roman women dressed up in pretty gowns.

Gladiators were combatants that entertained the Roman people with mortal combat during the Roman Republic and Roman Empire. Generally, those involved in the games were slaves, although some men volunteered to fight in front of the people. The contests took place at Roman amphitheaters such as the Colosseum. The Ridley Scott movie Gladiator (2000) saw Russell Crowe portray a fictional slave gladiator, Maximus Decimus Meridius, as he sought to remove the Roman Emporer Commodus from power.
