It’s the first day of October! Time for the best month of the year.

I thought we would kick things off right here at Funtober by joining the SPOOKtacular Giveaway Hop hosted by The Review Wire. From October 1st to October 15th, you can enter the SPOOKtacular Giveaways at more than fifty blogs. The minimum prize value at each website is $25, so start entering! The complete list is below our entry form.

Here at Funtober, we are giving away a coupon code that will take $75 off your Halloween costume purchase at our costume store. If your total order comes to less than $75, then you pay nothing. If you already have your costume for this year and you win, don’t worry. We’ve made the code good until Halloween 2013. We haven’t yet implemented a gift certificate system here, so it’s only good for one order. If you spend $72 for example, then you can’t save the last $3 for your next purchase. If you order more than $75, you have to pay the extra amount! And after thinking about it, we’ve decided to throw in shipping as well. So that’s $75 of Halloween costumes/accessories and our $6 shipping.

    I’ve been reading the blog for a couple of months now, and I’m loving it. It’s always good to connect with folks who love this season of the year as much as I do. I’ve loved the Halloween season since I was a kid, and I haven’t stopped loving it. Scary movies, candy, scary stories, corn mazes, fall beers, hayrides – you name it, I’ll be enjoying it this year and every year!

    October has always been my favorite month. Fall is absolutely stunning and being a horror fan there’s plenty of things around that make me happy. I also enjoy baking and I adore everything pumpkin.

    I love October because it’s full of activities to do. Haunted houses and scary props. Sitting by the bonfire with friends. Seeing people dressed in costume. Watching scary movies. Visiting pumpkin patches.

    There are many things I love about the Fall and October.

    First, I love the coolness that October brings … no more 100+ degree days. Next, it signals the changes in color of the tree, leaves and other fall foliage. I also love the tastes and smells of fall … pumpkin, cinnamon and apple. Then, I love to pass out loads of candy to the little ones all dressed up for Halloween. They always say I give them the best candy and lots of it.

    And last but not least, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. I love to acknowledge the many women in my life who have fought this battle. I’m sorry to say that I lost a childhood friend to breast cancer. She was born on October 31st– on Halloween. It is always a sad day and a good day.
