New York State is ripe with apple orchards offering pick your own apples! This popular fall activity can be easily done at a local orchard whether you live near Buffalo or the Vermont state line. Many farms also offer other fall fun, including pumpkin patches, corn mazes, hayrides, apple cider, fresh baked apple goods, and more. Some are big operations, others are small and simple. Bellinger’s Orchard - Fultonville, NY
The Winnie/Bellinger family farm, established in 1803, has had an orchard since 1930, and now offers over 30 varieties of apples available for picking. They have pumpkins and other gourds available in late September. Enjoy apple cider, fresh cider donuts (available individually, by the half dozen or dozen), jams and jellies, local honey and maple syrup, and more. Take a hayride through the apple orchard and pumpkin patch on weekends, and try not to get lost in the corn maze or the children’s hay maze.

Mead Orchards - Tivoli, NY

Middlefield Orchard - Cooperstown, NY
Pick your own apples from dwarf trees growing over 25 varieties between early August and late October, plus berries earlier in the year and pumpkins later in the fall. They also have a “Rent-a-Tree” program that gives you exclusive rights to the produce of a single tree for the year, giving you tons of apples to make your own treats throughout the season. They are closed Sunday but the orchard is open the rest of the week. They offer jams and jellies and other treats. They also have a corn maze, haywagon rides, and more activities.

They have pick your own apples and pears – 23 varieties in all – at this family owned farm that has been 100% pick your own since 1973. Bring a picnic, blanket, frisbee or other things to make your trip complete.

Rogers Family Orchard - Johnstown, NY

Rose Hill Farm - Red Hook, NY
Rose Hill Farm was established in 1812, on land purchased by the original owner in 1798, and was the only fruit farm among the state’s ten Bicentennial Family Farms in 2001, six generations later. After transitioning to a pick-your-own apple farm about twenty years ago, other produce was added for the pick your own, including berries, peaches, and pumpkins. They also have cider donuts and pie, apple cider, farm fresh eggs and more.

Samascott Orchards - Kinderhook, NY
In addition to fruits and vegetables of all sorts, you can pick your own apples (from July through November) and pumpkins (September and October). The Farm Stand offers fresh produce, homemade cider and cider donuts, local honey and maple syrup, and more. They make sweet cider in apple, pear, and apple-strawberry (seasonal) varieties. The Garden Market, which they bought in 2005, offers greenhouse grown produce, herbs, and flowers, but also offers a 7 acre corn maze with a different design each year.

Sand Flats Orchards - Fonda, NY
Pick your own or prepicked apples through September and October. They offer apple cider, cider donuts, pies, kettle corn and other treats. Pick up mums, pumpkins, and gourds at the farm stand as well. Take a tractor ride, try not to get lost in the corn maze, have a picnic, and see farm animals.

Saratoga Apple - Schuylerville, NY
This fifth generation family farm offers pick your own apples, and has fresh apple cider donuts and other products available year round. Their farm stand has a number of different produce items available, and they also participate in local farmer’s markets year round. In addition to sweet cider, they also offer hard ciders, and have a tasting room available for their hard ciders and other local hard ciders and beers.

Windy Hill Orchard – East - Castleton, NY
Formerly Goold Orchard, this orchard changed hands in 2019 after being established in 1910 and family-owned in the years since. The new owners have run Windy Hill Orchards in Cassville for many years, and will continue the Goold tradition while expanding upon their legacy. Baker Farm Market & U-Pick - Ransomville, NY
Pick your own apples in several varieties. You can select white or orange pumpkins of various sizes, either precut in the store or out of the patch. They also sell fresh pressed apple cider by the gallon, mums, and vegetables.

Becker Farms - Gasport, NY
This fifth generation family farm offers pick your own apples (beginning the end of August) and pumpkins (beginning the end of September) along with berries and other fruits. They offer prepicked produce in their store, as well as fresh and frozen pies and other baked goods, apple cider, homemade fudge and jam, and other goodies. They also have a winery and brewery onsite offering tastings and tours, as well as sales of wines, beers, and hard ciders. For Halloween, hey have also offered a haunted hayride on the weekends preceding the holiday.

Blackman Homestead Farm - Lockport, NY
More than 15 varieties of apples you can pick yourself. They also sell fresh pressed cider, hard cider, pumpkins and other gourds, local preserves and more. The farm was established in 1852 and is now run by the sixth generation of the Blackman family.

LynOaken Farms - Medina, NY
Nearly 20 varieties of apples for picking from their orchard in September and October. Enjoy a wagon ride to the orchard on the weekend as well as fresh cider doughnuts. Gift shop offers cookies, muffins, brownies and artisan cheese year round. The family also has a winery located at the same address.

Murphy Orchards - Burt, NY
A former stop on the Underground Railroad, this farm offers pick-your-own options for each fruit and vegetable they grow, including apples (the earliest varieties begin in early August) and pumpkins (beginning early October). The gift shop in the barn is filled with jams and jellies, gift baskets, and more, and the barn also hosts an Underground Railroad museum.

Paul’s Organic Farm - Holland, NY
New York’s only self-sustained, wind-powered organic farm, where you can pick your own berries, apples and more.

Roberts Farm Market - Medina, NY
A three generation family owned and operated farm market on a 75 year old farm. Pick your own apples between early September and late October. They grow more than 20 varieties on approximately 150 acres. They press their own apple cider on a 30 year old cider press, using a family recipe. You can also pick strawberries earlier in the season, and Christmas trees – weekends only in December.

Sanger Farms - Youngstown, NY
Take a hayride or a walk through the orchards and pick your own apples from several varieties. They also make fresh baked goods from old family recipes, and fresh pressed apple cider. You can also pick up local preserves, honey, and other goods in the farm store.

Smith’s Orchard - Pendleton, NY
A second generation family run orchard since 1976. They have a 20 acre orchard with Macintosh, Red Delicious, Empire and more varieties of apples. Pick your own apples available on weekends. Their cider mill produces apple cider on a 100 year old cider press from September through December, and you can also pick up a cider slushie and cider donuts.

Canton Apples - Canton, NY
Offering some modern varieties, this orchard specializes in heirloom apples, with several orchards around the Canton area, with a pick-your-own apple orchard and Country Store at the corner of CR 25 and Barnes Road. They also sell prepicked apples and other produce in the Country Store, as well as fresh apple cider, local maple syrup and more.

Chazy Orchard Farm Merket - Chazy, NY
Home of the world’s “Largest McIntosh Apple Orchard in the World,” this apple orchard was planted in the 1920s and currently has about 120,000 trees. They have an area of the orchard open for pick your own apples, with more available in the market. Their farm martket offers fresh cider donuts and pies, apple cider, honey, maple syrup, and more.

Fobare’s Fruits - Rensselaer Falls, NY
Pick your own apples and pumpkins. They also offer wagon rides, a corn maze, children’s activities including a playground, and the Apple Barn, which offers apple cider, baked goods such as cider donuts and pies, preserves and other prepared foods, ice cream, apple nachos, meals and other treats.

Gunnison Orchards - Crown Point, NY
This sixth generation farm was started in 1826, as a chicken farm, with apple trees planted between the chickens…over the years, the chicken farming operation was shut down, and the apple operation became the focus. The bakery and gift shop, opened in 2002, are open from May through December and offer fresh apple cider donuts, pies, fudge, and other baked goods. They also offer local honey, cider, and maple syrup. Pick your own apples run from mid-September through mid-October, and they grow about 20 varieties.

Hicks Orchard - Granville, NY
Pick your own apples, with pumpkins available as well. They offer hard and sweet ciders, cider donuts, wine, and apple wood cooked pizza (on the weekends). There is also a country store and kids activities.

It’s About Thyme Farm - Olmstedville, NY
A 150 acre family farm located 45 minutes from Lake George. Pumpkin patch and apple orchard open daily from early September until late October. Weekends bring hay rides, scarecrow walks, “free” doughnuts and apple cider. The address is 32 Smith Road, Olmstedville, NY 12857. It is about 32 miles north of Lake George.

Parishville Center Apple Orchard - Potsdam, NY

Prairie’s Orchard - Malone, NY
Pick your own apples from several varieties at this newer orchard, opened in 2014. They also carry locally-grown West Family pumpkins, and sell preserves, local maple syrup and honey, and more.

Rulfs Orchard - Peru, NY
Pick your own berries, tomotoes, apples and pumpkins. On weekends, they run wagon rides out to the pumpkin patch. The farm store is open yearround and stocks apples, fresh apple cider, fresh cider donuts and pies, and their own honey, as well as locally made goodies. In December, they have precut Christmas trees, wreaths and more. They also offer a variety of children’s activities, including a petting zoo.

Crooked Line Farm & Orchard - Bath, NY
Pick your own apples from over 25 varieties, plus other produce throughout the season. They also have a herd of Highland cattle – who love apples just as much as we do! They work with a local cider press to turn their apples into fresh apple cider. You can also take a wagon ride around the orchard.

G&S Orchards - Walworth, NY
A 150 acre family fruit farm. They have seven varieties of apples available for picking starting in September. Another eight varieties are available for purchase. Pick your own and pre-picked pumpkins are available starting in mid-September. They only accept cash payments. Only 15 minutes from downtown Rochester.

Green Acre Fruit Farm - Rochester, NY
A u-pick family farm with pumpkins and a variety of apples and fruits. Twenty two varieties of apples are available starting in late August. Their address is 3460 Latta Road, Rochester, NY 14612. It is located about 13 miles northwest of downtown Rochester. They started allowing apple picking following a hail storm in 1970. Now they have twenty two varieties available starting in late August. Red raspberries are also available for picking in autumn.

Green Acres and West Wind Fruit Farms - Rochester, NY
Green Acre Farms began in 1965, with PYO operations taking place for the first time in 1972. They added 12 fruits to the farm, and expanded to include West Wind Farm, located less than 3 miles away. Today, the farms are operated by fourth and fifth generation members of the Pearson family. Both locations offer pick your own, although the offerings and schedule may differ. Apples are available at Green Acres Farm, with 22 varieties ready between late August and late October. West Wind Farms has a cidery located on-site, Blue Barn Cidery, and offers a variety of hard ciders and beers in their tasting room.

Hurd Orchards - Holley, NY
A family owned fruit and flower farm in WNY between the Erie Canal and Lake Ontario. They grow more than forty nine varieties of apples including historic apples, experimental disease resistant apples, traditional apples and contemporary apples. Apple picking available in September and October. They also offer pumpkin picking throughout October and a variety of special events including teas and luncheons.

Kelly’s Fruit Farm - Hilton, NY
Pick your own apples from several varieties. They also cold press their apples into fresh cider, and make cider donuts, pie, and candy apples (and more) as well. The farm maintains hives to help with pollination and sells the honey. Later in September, come pick out pumpkins.

A multi-generation working family farm for more than 50 years. Pick your own apples available in October. They grow a wide variety of apples, but not all varieties are available for picking, the rest are available pre-picked in the market. There are also pick your own pumpkins available in October. Family fun day on the Saturday of Columbus day weekend includes tractor pulled wagon rides, pony rides, bin maze for kids, and Alpaca’s Maple Cotton Candy or Candy Apples. Tractor and wagon rides take guests to the pumpkin patch on weekends in October. Both pick your own apples and pumpkins are sold by the pound, and are also available pre-picked in the farm market

Wickham Farm - Penfield, NY
What began as a roadside pumpkin patch in 1988 has grown, with the addition of a corn maze, a heated barn to serve as a store, apple orchard, barnyard fun area, and more. There are two corn mazes, one family sized and one giant corn maze (over 5 acres), both of which open in August. The apple orchard has 13 varieties over 5,000 trees, with availability between mid-August and late October. The purchase of an apple bag includes a hayride tour for every member of your party. The pumpkin patch features thousands of various orange pumpkins, which are available for a flat rate regardless of size. The store offers a variety of hot and cold food, fresh pressed apple cider, cider donuts (daily in the fall) and other baked goods, apples from the orchard, and more. The barnyard fun area is accessible for a flat rate, and offers fun for all ages, including an apple cannon, antique tractor, barrel horses, corn pit, combine slide, duck races, farm animals and bunnies, and more.

Abbott Farms - Baldwinsville, NY
Pumpkin patch prices are based on size. Corn maze is open August through October. Flashlight maze on Friday nights in October. Pick your own apples and enjoy the apple cider from their cider press. They have a variety of apples ready for picking in September and October. Wagon rides, bounce house and apple cannon are also available on the farm. Country Store sells bakery items, fudge, ice cream and other items. Fall festival admission is $7 per person for ages 3 and up with a group discount available. Parking is free. Beginning in late September, take a wagon ride through the orchards and pick your own apples. Pumpkins are available beginning in late September, with wagon rides out to the pumpkin patch as well. They have fresh apple cider donuts, pies, cookies, and other baked goods, as well as apple cider and concord grape juice each fall. The farm market offers local honey and maple syrup, local jams and jellies, NYS cheeses, and more, as well as Christmas trees, garlands, and other decorations in December.

O’Neill’s Orchard - Lafayette, NY
Pick your own apples from more than 15 varieties from about late August through early November. They also have ciders, cider slushies, and cider donuts, as well as local goods, snacks, and more.

Ontario Orchards - Oswego, NY
Pick your own apples and pumpkins, plus take a spin through the corn maze or a ride on the hayride and enjoy cider and other treats. The address is 7735 State Route 104, Oswego, NY 13126. It is about 40 miles north of Syracuse.

Owen Orchard - Weedsport, NY
Pick your own apples, with 15 varieties to choose from, with pre-picked available in the store. The store also carried fresh pressed apple cider, cider donuts, homemade pies, and locally grown goodies.

Reisinger’s Apple Country - Watkins Glen, NY
Pick your own apples from over 20 varieties. Other produce available seasonally in the store, as is fresh apple cider beginning in September, and cider donuts made fresh every weekend. Fruit from the farm is made into jams, jellies, and more, and local produce, honey, maple syrup and more are available for purchase as well. Pumpkins, squash and gourds available in the market, as are prepicked apples.

Rocking Horse Farm - Jamesville, NY
Pick your own apple orchard (weekends September through October) and Christmas tree farm (weekends between Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve). They also raise alpacas and mini donkeys, and feature gifts with alpaca wool in their gift shop.
