I’ve only discovered two Delaware ghost tours. That’s a bit disappointing since Delaware is the first state. You would think people would have found a number of ghosts during its long history. But either I missed some tours or you will need to head to the Wilmington area to search for ghosts.
Here are the Delaware ghost tours that I have discovered:
Bellevue Hall Ghost Tour - Wilmington, DE
An annual event in Bellevue State Park. Listen to ghost stories at Bellevue Hall followed by a candlelit tour. Refreshments following for those who survive. The fee for this program is $15 per person. Pre-register in advance as space is limited. Enter through the Philadelphia Pike entrance and park behind Bellevue Hall.
Dark Dover Lantern Tour - Dover, DE
Hosted by First State Heritage Park. 2017 Dates are October 20 and 27. Witness firsthand true stories of murder and mayhem, and encounter characters whose legends have left their sinister imprint on The Green. Pre-registration is required and spaces are limited. Call 302-739-9194 for reservations. $10 per person. Not appropriate for children under 10.
Delaware City Ghost Hunters Tour - New Castle, DE
Fort Delaware Paranormal Adventure - Delaware City, DE
Diamond State Ghost Investigators runs a 3 hour investigation. Use EMFs, data recorders, and temperature sensors to search for paranormal activity. Visitors are welcome to bring their own equipment as long as it is easy to transport. Program open to ages 13 and older. All departures are from Delaware City. Please plan to check in 1/2 hour prior to scheduled trip. 2017 Dates are October 6-7, 13-14, 20-21, and 27-28. Two program times available: 6:30pm and 9:30pm (except for Oct 28 when there is only a 6:30 pm.
Ghosts in the Graveyard - Wilmington, DE
A tour of the graveyard of Holy Trinity (Old Swedes) Church in Wilmington, DE held annually in October. 2017 Dates are Saturday October 14 and 21. Reservations are required. Hear stories of the people buried at the 1638 Burial Ground. Adults $10, students 12-17 $6.
Ghosts of Rockwood Mansion - New Castle, DE
Join Professor Phil and Dr. Lou for a tour of the Rockwood Mansion. Cameras are encouraged. This is a family adventure that fills up fast. Reservations required. Ages 12+. Tickets are $35, discounted to $30 for New Castle County residents with ID. The Ghost Tour Adventure goes deeper into Rockwood Mansion, exploring the attic and basement as well. You must be in good physical condition, wear comfortable shoes and bring a flashlight. Cameras encouraged. Registration required. Ages 14+. Tickets are $55, discounted to $50 for New Castle County residents with ID. The Overnight Investigation is geared for paranormal investigative work by individuals with prior experience. Participants may bring their own hand-held equipment and cameras. Time/weather permitting allows exploration of outside and visit other structures on the estate. Registration required. Ages 14+. New Castle Historical Society - New Castle, DE
Offers occasional paranormal investigations throughout the year and a Hauntings in History walking tour of New Castle and the Amstel House in October. Hauntings in History Walking Tours are scheduled in 2017 for October 13-14, 20-21, 26-28 at 7, 7:30, and 8:30 pm each night. You will begin your journey into New Castle’s spooky side with a tour of the Amstel House and then move through the streets of New Castle. Ticket information becomes available in August. Member pre-sale starts August 15 and general public ticket sales open September 1. All of the tours sold out well in advance last year.
