Fall Mushroom Festivals

Whether you simply have a passing interest in mushrooms or are a serious forager of the wild varieties, fall offers several options to gather with fellow mushroom folk and celebrate these fabulous fungi at a mushroom festival.

Classes, workshops, cooking demos, and mushroom hunting expeditions are usually part of the ongoing festival so depending on what day you arrive and what it is you hope to accomplish, mushroom fans will find something to keep them amused. Learning about wild mushrooms can be quite a serious endeavor and rightly so, as every year uneducated mushroom hunters choose the wrong ones to ingest and can become quite sick or even poisoned to death. This is why you want to hunt with a certified mushroom forager and if you’re looking for one, these are the places where you’ll find the most accomplished.

If you’re just interested in seeing what a mushroom festival is all about, you’ll be welcomed to wander and browse the various vendor booths and stalls. If nothing else, you’ll come away with a newfound appreciation for these incredible and exotic gifts of nature.
