Fall State Fairs

September and October brings fabulous weather to much of the country. So you’ll find that is when many states hold their Fall State Fairs. Although some wrap up Labor Day weekend, others will go on throughout September and October.

Here’s a complete list:

Oklahoma State Fair - Oklahoma City, OK - Sep 16 to Sep 26, 2021
Carnival rides, family fun zone, wine & beer garden, barnyard birthing center, frontier experience, Disney on Ice, food, Xtreme Bulls, live music and more. The 2019 Oklahoma State Fair runs Thursday, September 12 – Sunday, September 22. The 2020 Oklahoma State Fair runs Thursday, September 17 – Sunday, September 27.

North Alabama State Fair - Muscle Shoals, AL - Sep 21 to Sep 26, 2021
One of the largest annual events in North Alabama with attendance of approximately 80,000. It started in 1935. Agricultural, industrial, cultural, and commercial exhibits are on display, with fun for the whole family!

State Fair of Virginia - Doswell, VA - Sep 23 to Oct 3, 2021
Held at the Meadow Event Park. Enjoy live music, including Grammy-winning artists, rides, agricultural displays and competitions, and more.

Texas State Fair - Dallas, TX - Sep 24 to Oct 17, 2021
This fair commemorates 130+ years of celebrating all things Texan by honoring agriculture and livestock.

Arkansas-Oklahoma State Fair - Fort Smith, AR - Sep 24 to Oct 2, 2021
An annual event held at the Kay Rodgers Park in Fort Smith. Carnival rides, midway acts, live entertainment, games, competitions and more

Tulsa State Fair - Tulsa, OK - Sep 30 to Oct 10, 2021
Disney on Ice, livestock shows, vendors, food, carnival rides, live music, and more. Since 1903.

Arizona State Fair - Phoenix, AZ - Oct 2 to Oct 30, 2021
An agricultural fair started over 100 years ago in 1905.

South Carolina State Fair - Columbia, SC - Oct 13 to Oct 24, 2021
Equine events, Heritage Village, crafting shows, prince & princess pageant, fair food, entertainment and more. Held annually since 1869.

North Carolina State Fair - Raleigh, NC - Oct 14 to Oct 24, 2021
Folk festival, fireworks, flower & garden show, local wine and craft beer exhibit, grandstand shows and more. New for 2019 is the nation’s tallest mobile Ferris Wheel, measuring in at 155 feet (that’s 62 feet taller than Dorton Arena!). Tickets are $6 in advance and $7 at the fair, and are not included in the unlimited rides wristband. Held annually at State Fairgrounds, 1025 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raleigh, NC. Future N.C. Arkansas State Fair - Little Rock, AR - Oct 15 to Oct 24, 2021
Everything you would expect from a great state fair with plenty of entertainment, rides, events, activities, animals, kids fun, food, and so much more.

Georgia-Carolina State Fair - Augusta, GA - Oct 15 to Oct 24, 2021
Midway with rides, shows, agricultural exhibits and competitions, food and more.

Pensacola Interstate Fair - Pensacola, FL - Oct 21 to Oct 31, 2021
Pensacola’s longest running fair started in 1935 and now includes more than 60 rides, entertainers, exhibits and plenty of food to enjoy.

Greater Baton Rouge State Fair - Baton Rouge, LA - Oct 28 to Nov 7, 2021
Petting zoo, pig races, lawn tractor pull, carnival, food and more. Since 1965.

Greater Gulf State Fair - Mobile, AL - Oct 29 to Nov 7, 2021
A fair for residents of South Alabama, Northwest Florida and Southeast Mississippi that was started in 1955 by the Mobile Jaycees.

Vermont State Fair - Rutland, VT - Aug 16 to Aug 20, 2022
Vermont’s oldest agricultural fair. Circus Hollywood, racing pigs, midway rides and games, monster truck rides, 4H shows, entertainment and more. Since 1846.

Tennessee State Fair - Nashville, TN - Aug 18 to Aug 27, 2022
Midway rides, pageant, karaoke, cornhole, hula hoop contest, ice cream eating competition, and more. Since 1855.

Alaska State Fair - Palmer, AK - Aug 19 to Sep 5, 2022
An annual state fair held in Palmer, Alaska. The fairgrounds are located approximately one hour north of Anchorage. The fair is famous for its record setting giant vegetables and picturesque location at the foot of the Chugach Mountains. The event features amusement rides, food concessions, competitive exhibits, carnival games, live performances and more.

Central States Fair - Rapid City, SD - Aug 19 to Aug 27, 2022
Live entertainment, carnival, food and commerical exhibits, livestock shows and horse events, kids entertainment and more!

Central Wisconsin State Fair - Marshfield, WI - Aug 23 to Aug 28, 2022
Midway carnival rides, draft horse show, tractor pull, demolition derby and more. Since 1885.

The Great New York State Fair - Syracuse, NY - Aug 24 to Sep 5, 2022
Always plenty of entertainment on seven stages plus lots of competitions, crafts, food, and fun, including a full carnival, midway and rides. The nation’s first state fair, since 1841.

Minnesota State Fair - St. Paul, MN - Aug 25 to Sep 5, 2022
Grandstand shows, live entertainment, food, shopping, agricultural exhibits and competitions, and more! Started as a territorial fair in 1854, it changed its name in 1859 after Minnesota became a state. Always the 12 days leading up to and including Labor Day. Nearly 2 million people attend the event. Held at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.

Maryland State Fair - Lutherville-Timonium, MD - Aug 25 to Sep 11, 2022
An annual state fair held at Maryland State Fairgrounds.  Enjoy carnival rides, thoroughbred horseracing, livestock shows, 4H/FFA exhibits, kiddie rides, and great carnival style food. Since 1878.

Colorado State Fair - Pueblo, CO - Aug 26 to Sep 5, 2022
The largest summer event in the state started as a horse exhibition in 1869, before Colorado became a state. Fairgoers can now enjoy a carnival, live entertainment, livestock and horse shows, competitions, and fair food.

Nebraska State Fair - Grand Island, NE - Aug 26 to Sep 5, 2022
Midway, parades, concerts, agricultural displays, demonstrations, hale bay decorating contest, talent search, food eating contest and more. Since 1868.

Oregon State Fair - Salem, OR - Aug 26 to Sep 5, 2022
Carnival, music concerts, home brew competition, talent search, agricultural competitions, Dog Town and more.

Michigan State Fair - Novi, MI - Sep 1 to Sep 5, 2022
Agricultural activities, carnival, pig races, craft beer pavilion and other events. Located at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. Since 1905.

Hopkinton (New Hampshire) State Fair - Contoocook, NH - Sep 1 to Sep 5, 2022
Carnival rides, livestock exhibits, wagon rides, demolition derby, fair food and more. A Labor Day weekend tradition since 1915.

South Dakota State Fair - Huron, SD - Sep 1 to Sep 5, 2022
Petting zoo and pony rides, paleontologist dig, acrobats, bears, puppets, four stages of live entertainment, horticultural exhibits, guest artists and authors, cooking demonstrations, carnival and wine pavilion all help South Dakota celebrate the beginning of fall. Since 1885.

Eastern Idaho State Fair - Blackfoot, ID - Sep 2 to Sep 10, 2022
One of two annual state fairs in Idaho. Enjoy the annual parade at opening of the fair. Attractions include horse races, food, motocross, bull riding, tractor pulls, demolition derby, fairground rides/games, and live music concerts. Since 1902.

Washington State Fair - Puyallup, WA - Sep 2 to Sep 25, 2022
Rodeo, rides, fine art show, animal exhibits, food, shopping and kids’ games.

Kansas State Fair - Hutchinson, KS - Sep 8 to Sep 18, 2022
Midway, carnival rides, car show, antique farm machinery show, exotic animal petting zoo, pig races, motorcycle rally & parade, antique tractor pull, pedal pull championships and more. Since 1873.

New Mexico State Fair - Albuquerque, NM - Sep 8 to Sep 18, 2022
A large state fair complete with concerts, parade, midway, food, livestock show, horse show and more. Since 1881.

Utah State Fair - Salt Lake City, UT - Sep 8 to Sep 18, 2022
An 11 day fair starting annually on the Thursday after Labor Day. Live entertainment, agriculture events, children’s activities, food vendors and more. Since 1856.

Spokane County Interstate Fair - Spokane, WA - Sep 9 to Sep 18, 2022
Rodeo, carnival & rides, fair food, live music, demolition derby and more.
