New York Ghost Tours

It should come as no surprise that there are ghost tours in New York.After all, one of the world’s best ghost stories is set in Sleepy Hollow, NY.If you don’t know which one I’m referring to, you should be ashamed of yourself.It’s the Legend of Sleepy Hollow of course.Washington Irving’s recount of the Headless Horseman and Ichabod Crane.But you don’t have to travel to upstate New York or Niagara Falls to chase ghosts.You’ll also find them near New York City, appropriately referred to as the city that never sleeps.The Amityville Horror, portrayed in a 1977 book by Jay Anson and later a hit movie, happened in Long Island in 1974 and the house has been the subject of controversy related to paranormal phenomenon ever since.Time Magazine named it one of the Top 10 Haunted Places in the world.

No registration is required and a tram service from the parking lot to tour location is provided. Participants must arrive no later than 8:00 p.m. on select date for guaranteed admittance.

Sag Harbor Ghost Walk - Sag Harbor, NY
Annual event. A haunted walking tour of Sag Harbor. The tour begins at 6:00 p.m. at the Sag Harbor Whaling & Historical Museum and makes stops at several locations throughout the village where ghostly true tales that have been reported there will be shared. Dress appropriately. The tour lasts approximately two hours. Tickets are $25 per person. There is a 30 person maximum so register ASAP after they announce dates.

Sleepy Hollow Cemetary Walk - Sleepy Hollow, NY
Located in legendary Sleepy Hollow, New York, two tours of local haunts and cemeteries are offered for the curious and brave. A two-hour, afternoon walking tour and an evening lantern tour are available at prices of $19.99 and $24.99 respectively. Themed tours are also available.

Park After Dark Ghost Tours - Sylvan Beach, NY
The CasperCops will guide you through a Haunted Amusement Park. The tour begins with a brief walk through of the park while they discuss the legends of who still roams the park after death has taken them. Once the park closes at 10:00pm, the tour becomes an investigation.Enter the secured empty buildings and conduct a ghost hunt. Cameras, recorders and your participation are welcome and encouraged.

Albany

Cooperstown Candlelight Ghost Tours - Cooperstown, NY
Also seen on SyFy’s Ghost Hunters, the macabre history of Cooperstown, New York, home of James Fenimore Cooper, is revealed in this candlelit walking tour.
