The Fair began in 1841 as the Herkimer County Agricultural Society, and presently the Fair attendance exceeds 70,000 in the 6 day fair with Gillette Shows (the carnival that began in 1958) still an important part of the fair.

Steuban County Fair - Bath, NY - Aug 13 to Aug 18, 2019
The Steuben County Fair is the oldest continually running fair in the United States. Originated in 1819 there were 9 categories for judging with prizes given to exhibitors of cattle, sheep and produce. Horse racing was also an attraction. Today, families can also enjoy rides at the carnival, live entertainment, truck pulling, contests, and more.

140th annual. The Grahamsville Little World’s Fair is the longest running independent fair in New York, offering three days of old-fashioned family fun, including agricultural and livestock exhibits and contests, daily entertainment including live music and demonstrations, rides for all ages, an array of great food, games, vendors, and a whole lot more! Dutchess County Fair - Rhinebeck, NY - Aug 20 to Aug 25, 2019
The first official fair was held in Washington Hollow in 1842, and fought through unlucky weather, war and the Depression, and more. Today, the largest agricultural 6-day fair in New York State has a physical plant that is the recognized as one of the most beautiful in the country. The fair showcases agriculture, horticulture, historical objects and ways of life, arts and crafts, culinary contests, marketplace, concessions, live entertainment, a grandstand, rides and more.

New York State Festival of Balloons - Dansville, NY - Aug 29 to Sep 2, 2019
Over 35,000 attend this festival starting with the free balloon GLOW on Thursday night. Festival has six scheduled balloon launches, international food court, free entertainment, rides and amusements, car show, and craft vendors.

Varick Winery Pumpkin Chuckin’ - Romulus, NY - Sep 1 to Oct 27, 2019

Tugboat Roundup - Waterford, NY - Sep 6 to Sep 8, 2019
A free event for the whole family with lots of tugboat demonstrations and rides, plus face painting, puppet show, food, crafts, pony rides, and Saturday night fireworks.

Brothers of Mercy Oktoberfest 5K Run/Walk - Clarence, NY - Sep 6, 2019
5K Nature Run & Walk is a fundraiser to support the Brothers of Mercy mission. There is also beer, food, dancing and musical entertainment by the Auslanders between 5:30 PM and 10 PM. Cost is between $10 and $25.

Six Flags The Great Escape: Oktoberfest - Lake George, NY - Sep 7 to Sep 22, 2019
Celebrate Oktoberfest at The Great Escape each day with German music, dancing, fall beers and festive foods. There will be acoustic performances at the Alpine Fest Haus and two headlining bands at the main stage by SkyCoaster. Admission is $21.50 or free with season pass.

Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival - Norwich, NY - Sep 7 to Sep 8, 2019
A free outdoor festival that draws 10,000 people to East and West Parks of downtown Norwich, NY, each year on the weekend after Labor Day, with its juried art and fine crafts for sale in an interactive atmosphere, acoustic music by professional singer-songwriters, literary arts, competitive poetry slam, creative culinary arts and hands-on art experiences for all ages. Admission and all activities are entirely FREE of charge.

Macedon Center Lumberjack Festival - Macedon, NY - Sep 7 to Sep 8, 2019
Amateur Lumberjack competition on Saturday includes log rolling, two-man cross cut, buck saw, chain saw, log chop and fire starting. Sunday is the pro competition with ax throwing, hot saw, two man crosscut, spring board and more. Also has Lumberjack pancake breakfast, petting zoo with pony rides, craft and collectibles sale. Held at the Firemen’s Field on Canandaigua Road. Parking is free and handicapped accessible. Admission is only $3.00 for adults, $2.00 for sr. citizens, $1.00 for kids 6-14 and 5 and under are free. NY Craft Brewers Festival - Syracuse, NY - Nov 2, 2019
7th annual. Held 4PM-8PM (VIP hours) at the Landmark Theatre.  Sample foods and over beers from over 60 NYS breweries, and brewers, owners, and direct brewery reps always pour – so you can meet the people making the beer you love! VIP tickets get you in an hour early plus access to some beers not available to the general public.
