Beaver Wine Festival - Beaver, PA - Aug 27, 2022
Canceled for 2021, look for their return in 2022. Normally: Fifteen local wineries will be on site offering up samples of their products, plus enjoy live music, food, and other vendors. 21+

Pocono Garlic Festival - East Stroudsburg, PA - Sep 3 to Sep 4, 2022
60 vendors of food and crafts offering garlic everything to try at Shawnee Mountain Ski Area. 10 AM to 6 PM. Advance ticket sales are from May until early September. Arts & crafts, entertainment, garlic eating contest, chopped garlic cooking competition and children’s area with petting zoo and more entertainment.

Vendemmia Wine and Food Festival - Philadelphia, PA - Sep 29, 2019
This year’s event is a Toga Party in Stephen Girard Park, from 2-6pm. Plenty of wine and food, top notch entertainment and dancing. The Vendemmia Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to preserving Italian culture; to advancing the understanding of Italian heritage and the art of winemaking; to fostering pride in community; and to supporting the educational needs of students of Italian heritage in South Philadelphia. Over 300 local students have benefited from event proceeds over the years.

Bucks County Plein Air Festival - Newtown, PA - Oct 1 to Oct 6, 2019
See the work of 30 artists from across the country as they compete in a juried painting competition for $15,000 in prizes. Artists will paint throughout the week in Newtown, Doylestown, Peddler’s Village, and New Hope before a public art festival on October 6 at Bucks County Community College’s Newtown Campus, featuring quick draws, live music and performances, food, and wine tastings.

Canceled for 2021, look for their return in 2022. Normally: At noon they will have the traditional tapping of the first barrel of Oktoberfest by New Hope’s Mayor Keller. After 4pm, Oktoberfest is a 21+ only party with stein-hoisting competitions, pretzel eating competition, cornhole and giant Jenga on the patio, and more, plus live music, German staples and their delicious regular menu (Triumph is a favorite stop when we’re taking family train rides in New Hope with our nephew)

23rd Street Armory Oktoberfest - Philadelphia, PA - Oct 18 to Oct 19, 2019
Brauhaus Schmitz will transform the 16,000 square-foot 23rd Street Armory into the likeness of a Munich festival tent once again. The Armory will be decked out from top to bottom in Bavarian blue and white, with authentic festival tables and benches imported from Germany plus a lofted stage area plus special themed Oktoberfest activities and contests. Live music and a dance floor will be available for each of the three sessions (one Friday night and two Saturday). Traditional Oktoberfest food will be provided by Valentin Bay, with beer provided by Hofbrau. Alpine Oktoberfest - Honesdale, PA - Aug 14 to Aug 16, 2020
Held at the Alpine Wurst & Meat House, located in the Poconos region of Northeast Pennsylvania. It has been known for its delicious German sausages and other meats for more than thirty years. Kick off the Oktoberfest season under the Tent for a three day weekend in August that happens annually. Enjoy beer, food, dancing and live music under the Tent that seats more than 1,000 people. They also offer other events in fall for visitors to enjoy the German-American cuisine, including the Fall Schlachtfest Buffet at the end of October and the Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner in November. One-day and three-day passes are available for Oktoberfest.

There is something for everyone at the Annual Harvest Family Picnic. Come rain or shine, enjoy wine samples, free picnic food, face painting, and balloons. Peddler’s Village Scarecrow Festival - New Hope, PA - Sep 12 to Sep 13, 2020
A weekend of family fun including scarecrow competition, scarecrow-making workshops, pumpkin pie-eating contests, pumpkin painting, live musical entertainment and children’s activities. Free admission and parking. Workshop Fee is $30 per scarecrow with a maximum of 4 people per scarecrow. 10 AM – 6 PM.

Bucks County Dragon Boat Festival - Langhorne, PA - Sep 12, 2020
Canceled for 2021, will return in 2022. Normally: Held at Core Creek Park, this event paddles out hunger

Lower Gwynedd Pike Fest - Spring House, PA - Sep 13, 2020
Canceled for 2021, look for their return in 2022. Normally: Bethlehem Pike is closed to traffic, and local businesses come out to help showcase and celebrate the Lower Gwynedd Community, plus music, the Wissahickon High School Marching band, local artisans, kids’ activities, food trucks and more. Start the day off with a run at 8am, when Born to Run puts on a 5k.

St Luke’s VIA Marathon - Allentown, PA - Sep 13, 2020
2020/2021 – Host (Via) has decided to refocus their efforts. Unlikely to return. Previously: The St. Luke’s Via Marathon is the 6th best Boston Qualifier in the United States. The point to point course offers a net descent run through nine municipalities, finishing at Scott Park in Easton, PA. Shade is plentiful along the course, and the views change often. Fourteen small bridges add an accent to the unique course. The Marathon offers runners the opportunity to qualify for the Boston Marathon and is one of the fastest races in the country. The average time for the race in 2017 was 3:59:48.

Drive through Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown while listening to an audio tour on your mobile device that explains the animals and exhibits. This takes their normal safari (held over the summer several times in their parking lot) a bit further. At the end of the tour, receive a gift bag with a four-pack of beer, LagerGator, brewed specially for the zoo by KOP brewery Workhorse Brewing Company, as well as a Workhorse pint glass and koozie, Make in Montco bottle opener, a reusable Wegmans shopping bag, and more! Tickets are $65 per vehicle and go on sale for members 8/17. The general public can buy tickets 8/19. Only sedans and compact SUV’s allowed due to the safari’s path. This is a fundraiser to help the zoo replace funds lost through lower zoo attendance and other fundraising events being canceled due to COVID-19. They also experienced some flooding during Tropical Storm Isaias in early August, which resulted in damaged exhibits across the zoo.
