Love the story of Paul Bunyan as a child? Chase the myth down at a timber festival this fall.

Whether you have fallen in love with Ax Men on the History Channel or want to see the first step in creating paper, you’ll find these events an interesting and entertaining mix of history and fun from the $270 billion dollar worldwide industry of logging. We’re using more and more wood every year. Why not take a look at how it happens? Plus, we think you’ll enjoy seeing the lumberjacks.

Amana Oktoberfest - Amana, IA - Oct 4 to Oct 6, 2024
Amana, a national historic landmark built by radical Pietists primarily from Germany, celebrates Oktoberfest with a beer keg tapping (Friday at 2 PM), parade (Saturday), live entertainment, games and activities for both adults (like the keg toss!) and kids (pumpkin toss!). Other contests such as log sawing, brat eating and the timber trek. Sample fudge and caramel at the Chocolatehaus. Free demonstrations at the Woolen Mill. Edelstein Treasures for kids. Festhalle admission is $10 for one day and $15 for two days.

Art expo, apple butter making, lumberjacks and carvers, food, kids activities, quilt expo, and more,

Timberfest - Sheridan, AR - Oct 6 to Oct 7, 2023
Annual event held for more than 30 years. First weekend of October in downtown Sheridan, Arkansas. You’ll find Lumberjack Competitions, games and fun for children of all ages, arts and crafts, 5K run, a parade and much more. The event is held on the Grant County Courthouse Square.

Orofino Lumberjack Days - Orofino, ID - Sep 14 to Sep 17, 2023
Activities include carnival, parade, horse pull competition, skidding & truck driving competition, and more.

Macedon Center Lumberjack Festival - Macedon, NY - Sep 9 to Sep 10, 2023
Amateur Lumberjack competition on Saturday includes log rolling, two-man cross cut, buck saw, chain saw, log chop and fire starting. Sunday is the pro competition with ax throwing, hot saw, two man crosscut, spring board and more. Also has Lumberjack pancake breakfast, petting zoo with pony rides, craft and collectibles sale. Held at the Firemen’s Field on Canandaigua Road. Parking is free and handicapped accessible. Admission is only $3.00 for adults, $2.00 for sr. citizens, $1.00 for kids 6-14 and 5 and under are free. It is sponsored by the Macedon Center Fire Dept. and the Macedon Center United Methodist Church.

Autumn Timber Festival - East Stroudsburg, PA - Oct 10 to Oct 11, 2020
Live music, food & craft vendors, trick dog shows, blacksmithing demos, chainsaw sculptures and children’s activities.
