Queen Hippolyta is a DC Comics superhero based on the Amazon queen Hippolyta from Greek mythology. The character was introduced in 1941 and is the mother of Wonder Woman and the queen of the Amazons of Themyscira.
Hippolyta is played by Connie Nielsen in the DC Extended Universe, appearing in Wonder Woman (2017, Justice League (2017) and Wonder Woman 1984 (2020). Nielsen’s first major English language film was The Devil’s Advocate, in which she played the supporting role of Christabella Andreoli.
Rubie’s Costumes has the official license for Halloween costumes for the Wonder Woman series. However, Rubies declared bankrtupcy in April 2020 and it is known yet known how this will impact costume manufacturing and sales / availability for Halloween 2020.
Rubie’s has made a deluxe adult costume and a wig for Hippolyta as part of the 2017 Wonder Woman movie. We are not aware of any mass produced children’s Hippolyta costumes.
If your daughter wants to wear a Wonder Woman costume for Halloween, a Hippolyta costume can make an excellent pairing. Dad could also play the role of Steve Trevor thanks to an available adult Rubies costume.
