Iowa Halloween Events 2021

Are you ready to track down some fun events for Halloween 2021? We have put together one of the largest calendars of Halloween events in the United States for you. It locates holiday activities for all ages – from kid-friendly children’s activities to adult Halloween parties. We don’t have every event yet, but there are plenty of ideas to get you and your family in the mood for Halloween in Iowa.

2021 Events

Hills and Dales Halloween Harvest - Dubuque, IA - Oct 8 to Oct 13, 2021
For 2021, a pumpkin auction. Normally: 4-6 pm at the Children’s Play Area in the Kennedy Mall, with costumes, candy, and a dance party! You can also trick or treat throughout the Kennedy Mall, make crafts, and more! $5/child

Grimes Halloween Fest - Grimes, IA - Oct 16, 2021
2021 Fall Fest encourages costumes while offering food trucks, vendors, kids activities, candy, and more. Normally: Grimes Trick-or-Treat hours are 6-8pm on Halloween, so head to the gym for some fun beforehand! The gym will be packed with inflatables, activities around the GCC facility, and candy for all at the booths set up. The entire family is encouraged to wear costumes. 4-6:30pm.

Trunk or Treat at the Fairgrounds - Dubuque, IA - Oct 21, 2021
5:30-7 in the parking lot of the fairgrounds. $1 per person with food available for purchase.

Asbury Halloween Parade - Asbury, IA - Oct 22, 2021
7pm. Starts at Lord of Life Church and goes down Springreen to Asbury Park. Walking escorts will be handing out candy from some displays, plus floats, marching groups and more.

Thiesen’s Dog-o-ween - Cedar Rapids, IA - Oct 24, 2021
1-4pm. Halloween is right around the corner and your pups don’t want to feel left out. Dress your pup in their Halloween best and bring them to Dog-O-Ween at a Theisen’s Northeast! KHAK team members will each host a location and broadcast live. All proceeds go to local shelters.

Mad Scientist Party & Trick-or-Treat event - Dubuque, IA - Oct 24, 2021
Held at the National Mississippi Museum & Aquarium. Live animal programs, trick-or-treating, science experiments, face painting, and craft activities will engage children 12-years-old and younger and their families. Costumes are encouraged, snacks and beverages are available for purchase, and the event is completely wheel chair and stroller accessible.

HalloWEEK at Iowa Children’s Museum - Coralville, IA - Oct 26 to Oct 31, 2021
A full week of not-too-spooky fun! Creepy-crawly spiders and happy jack-o-lanterns have found their way into museum exhibits, and there are plenty of Halloween activities that kids of all ages will enjoy. Costumes encouraged. Included in regular museum admission price.

Trick or treat on Main Avenue at 3pm

Halloween Parade and Carnival - Iowa City, IA - Oct 29, 2021
Costume parade around the park followed by carnival games, crafts, treats, performances and more, plus a visit from the Bookmobile.

Halloween Parade - Bettendorf, IA - Oct 30, 2021
The parade will begin at the intersection of 23rd Street and Middle Road, then continue onto Spruce Hills Drive. The procession will travel to 18th Street, turning left onto 18th Street, continuing to Middle Road, turning left on Middle Road, and finishing at the entrance of the Life Fitness / Splash Landing parking lot

Halloween Weekend – Rock Creek - Camanche, IA - Oct 4 to Oct 6, 2019
Rock Creek Marina & Campground hosts a weekend of Halloween activities at their Eco Tourism Center. Decorate your campsite for a chance at a prize, plus pumpkin carving, crafts, live animal presentations, trick or treating, hayrack ride, and more. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Witches Night Out - Port of Dubuque, IA - Oct 17, 2019
Witches Night Out is back and ready for a wicked time! Witches and warlocks age 21+ are invited to enjoy a frightfully fun evening of shopping, live music, wine tasting, appetizers, door prizes, witches brews, and a cackling contest. So practice your cackle and get dressed to impress.

Halloween Movie Night at the LFC - Bettendorf, IA - Oct 19, 2019
Festivities begin at 5 with Halloween themed activites until 5:45, when the movie screening begins. Costumes encouraged.

Venture out to Altmaier Family Park for a fun and fright-filled night! Enjoy games, goodies, a spooky hike through the woods, the “haunted” barn, live music by Marc Janssen and David Mehaffey, a bonfire, and more! Costumes are strongly encouraged but not required. Bring a flashlight

Trick or Treat at Hy-Vee - Dubuque, IA - Oct 26, 2019
Head to your nearest Dubuque Hy-Vee location for coloring, cooking decorating, pumpkin decorating and trick or treating around the store. Costumes are encouraged at this free event.

Thiesen’s Dog-o-ween - Cedar Rapids, IA - Oct 27, 2019
1-4pm. Halloween is right around the corner and your pups don’t want to feel left out. Dress your pup in their Halloween best and bring them to Dog-O-Ween at a Theisen’s location in the Corridor! KHAK team members will each host a location and broadcast live from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 28. The registration period is from 1:30 p.m. up until contest time. The entry fee for each dog is $10 and the contest will begin at 3:00 p.m. ALL proceeds go to local shelters. This year the event will take place at several Theisen’s locations including both locations in Cedar Rapids.
