Fall Maine Festivals
The Maine fall festivals are pretty standard for a smaller populated state on the ocean. There are a few harvest festivals, a seafood festival and a regatta offer a diverse selection of choices after Oktoberfest in Maine is over. Here is the list of September and October festivals in 2016:

Blue Hill Fair – Blue Hill, ME – Sept 1-5, 2016
Camden Windjammer Festival – Camden, ME – September 2-4, 2016
A weekend of maritime fun on the harbor including tours of the windjammers, lobster crate race, Build-a-Boat contest, Chowder Challenge, talent show and other maritime activities.
Camden International Film Festival – Sept 15-18, 2016
12th annual documentary film and art festival in mid-coast Maine. Over 70 films are screened from dozens of countries.
Belgian Beer Fest – Portland, Maine – Sept 17, 2016
Acadia Night Sky Festival – Bar Harbor, ME – September 22-25, 2016
Families and amateur astronomers enjoy the stars for a weekend. Seminars, presentations, boat cruise, kayak tour, climbing and other activities with an emphasis on astronomy.
Cornish Apple Festival – Cornish, ME – September 24, 2016
This free festival is held in historic Cornish Village on the last Saturday in September. Event includes apple pie contest, live entertainment, arts & crafts, 5K race and other activities. It is a fundraising event for the Cornish Association of Businesses.

Maine Lakes Brew Fest – Sept 26, 2015
12th annual event at The Beach at Point Sebago. 30 brewers and 10+ food vendors expected. Tickets are $25 starting on May 1 and increase in price after Sept 1. $5 Parking per car.
Booth Bay Harbor Fest – Boothbay Harbor, ME – September 4-13, 2015
A 10 day celebration of local food and live music on the waterfront.
MDI Garlic Festival – Southwest Harbor, ME – September 12, 2015
17th annual event at Smugglers Den Campground. Local restaurants, garlic growers, and breweries celebrate the harvest of the garlic crop.. There is also a large farmers market. Entry fee is $5 per person.
Harvestfest and Chowdah Cookoff – Bethel, ME – September 19, 2015
Chowdah cookoff, apple pie contest, scarecrow contest and other events to celebrate the harvest.
Saddleback Fall Festival – Saddleback, ME – September 20, 2015
Visit the ski mountain for arts & crafts, food, live music, children’s pie eating contest and other fall activities like a pumpkin patch.
Eastport Pirate Festival – Eastport, ME – September 11-13, 2015
10th annual event. Starts with the Invasion of Lubec before the festival, followed by a weekend of activities for pirates. Attendance estimated at 10,000+ and 90% reportedly dress as a pirate.
Manchester Apple Festival – Manchester, ME – September 26, 2015
12th annual event at Lakeside Orchards. Admission and most events are free.
Pemaquid Oyster Festival – Damariscotta, Maine – September 27, 2015
More than 10,000 oysters are served annually at this event to benefit the Edward A. Myers Marine Conservation Fund. Held on the banks of the Damariscotta River at Schooner Landing Restaurant & Marina. Other food options available. There is also an entertainment stage, educational exhibits and other locations. Noon to dusk, rain or shine.
Freeport Fall Festival – Freeport, ME – October 3-4, 2015
A two day festival showcasing New England artists and craft makers on the L.L.Bean campus.
Northern Berkshire Fall Foliage Festival and Parade – North Adams – October 4, 2015
OgunquitFest – Ogunquit, Maine – October 23-25, 2015
Pumpkin decorating, scarecrow contest, costume parade, classic car show, craft show, wagon rides and more.
Fryeburg Fair – Fryeburg, ME – October 4-11, 2015 Livestock exhibition, parade, competitions like the Fireman’s Muster and the Skillet Throw, midway rides and carnival games. Admission is $10 a day.
Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta – Damariscotta, ME – October 3-12, 2015
Pumpkinboats are paddled or motor powered in this famous regatta on the Damariscotta River. Also includes giant pumpkin weigh-off, parade, pumpkin drop, pumpkin pancake breakfast and other activities.
Kennebunk Harvest Fest – Kennebunk, Maine – Oct 10, 2015
Sunday River Fall Festival Weekend – Newry, ME – October 9-11, 2015
North American Wife Carrying Championship, Kids’ Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest, New England Corn Hold Championship, Blue Mountain Arts and Crafts Fair. Wine Tent, Sunday Bloody Sunday Tent. Concerts on Saturday and Sunday. Scenic Chairlift Rides to the Peak Lodge, free wagon rides and more.
York Harvestfest & Kidfest – York Beach, Maine – Oct 17, 2015
31st annual event on the weekend after Columbus Day. Held from 9 AM to 4 PM. Live performances by Don Campbell Band and Something in the Water, food, kids games, and horse-drawn wagon rides. Public parking at York’s Wild Animal Kingdom.
Great Maine Apple Day – Unity, ME – October 18, 2015
Workshops, cider-pressing, orchard tour and delicious treats at the Common Ground Education Center. Admission is $2 (members) or $4 (non-members).
Harvest on the Harbor – Portland, ME – October 21-25, 2015
Culinary creations from Maine’s top chefs. Events include sampling at the marketplace, the Maine Lobster Chef of the Year Competition, and Grand Tasting on the Harbor (wine, beer and spirits with views of Casco Bay while enjoying morsels from notable Maine chefs).
Maine Harvest Festival Bangor – ME – Nov 14-15, 2015
Cooking demonstrations, pie contest, live music, local wines and beers. Located at the Cross Insurance Center.
Waterville Parade of Lights – Waterville, ME – Nov 27, 2015
Annual community holiday parade starting at 6 pm on the Friday after Thanksgiving.
