Fall Maine Festivals

The Maine fall festivals are pretty standard for a smaller populated state on the ocean.  There are a few harvest festivals, a seafood festival and a regatta offer a diverse selection of choices after Oktoberfest in Maine is over. Here is the list of September and October festivals in 2017:

Bangor Fall Festivals


Blue Hill Fair - Blue Hill, ME - Sep 1 to Sep 5, 2016
An annual Labor Day weekend event located at 233 Elsworth Road in Blue Hill.  Features live entertainment, attractions and exhibits for the family.  Describes itself as a true

Booth Bay Harbor Fest - Boothbay Harbor, ME - Sep 2 to Sep 11, 2016
A 10 day celebration of local food and live music on the waterfront.  A food and fashion show.

Camden Windjammer Festival - Camden, ME - Sep 2 to Sep 4, 2016
A weekend of maritime fun on the harbor including tours of the windjammers, lobster crate race, Build-a-Boat contest, Chowder Challenge, talent show and other maritime activities.

Eastport Pirate Festival - Eastport, ME - Sep 9 to Sep 11, 2016
11th annual event. Starts with the Invasion of Lubec before the festival, followed by a weekend of activities for pirates. Attendance estimated at 10,000+ and 90% reportedly dress as a pirate.

Nostrano Garlic Festival - Southwest Harbor, ME - Sep 9 to Sep 11, 2016
18th annual event at Smugglers Den Campground. Local restaurants, garlic growers, and breweries celebrate the harvest of the garlic crop.. There is also a large farmers market.

Camden International Film Festival - Camden, ME - Sep 15 to Sep 18, 2016
12th annual documentary film and art festival in mid-coast Maine. Over 70 films are screened from dozens of countries.

Belgian Beer Fest - Portland, ME - Sep 17 to Sep 17, 2016
A one day two session event with hundreds of authentic Belgian beers and inspired offerings.  Sponsored by the Allagash Brewing Company.

Acadia Night Sky Festival - Bar Harbor, ME - Sep 22 to Sep 25, 2016
Families and amateur astronomers enjoy the stars for a weekend. Seminars, presentations, boat cruise, kayak tour, climbing and other activities with an emphasis on astronomy.

Oktoberfest Brewfest Weekend - Casco, ME - Sep 23 to Sep 25, 2016
This adults only weekend allows you to enjoy Maine made beers and wines, browse the Maine artisan craft show, listen to the Oktoberfest entertainment and take a cruise on the Point Sebago Princess. It is held at Point Sebago, a 775 acre resort on Sebago Lake.Location: Point Sebago 261 Point Sebago Road, Casco, ME 04015

Cornish Apple Festival - Cornish, ME - Sep 24 to Sep 24, 2016
This free festival is held in historic Cornish Village on the last Saturday in September. Event includes apple pie contest, live entertainment, arts & crafts, 5K race and other activities. It is a fundraising event for the Cornish Association of Businesses.

Maine Lakes Brew Fest - Casco, ME - Sep 24 to Sep 24, 2016
12th annual event at The Beach at Point Sebago. 35 brewers and 15+ food vendors expected. Tickets are $25 starting on May 1 and increase in price after Sept 1. $5 Parking per car.

Manchester Apple Festival - Manchester, ME - Sep 24 to Sep 24, 2016
13th annual event at Lakeside Orchards. Admission and most events are free.

Pemaquid Oyster Festival - Damariscotta, ME - Sep 25 to Sep 25, 2016
More than 10,000 oysters are served annually at this event to benefit the Edward A. Myers Marine Conservation Fund. Held on the banks of the Damariscotta River at Schooner Landing Restaurant & Marina. Other food options available. There is also an entertainment stage, educational exhibits and other locations. Noon to dusk, rain or shine.

Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta - Damariscotta, ME - Oct 1 to Oct 10, 2016
Pumpkinboats are paddled or motor powered in this famous regatta on the Damariscotta River. Also includes giant pumpkin weigh-off, parade, pumpkin drop, pumpkin pancake breakfast and other activities. Main events are over Columbus Day Weekend.

Freeport Fall Festival - Freeport, ME - Oct 1 to Oct 2, 2016
A two day festival showcasing New England artists and craft makers on the L.L.Bean campus.

Kennebunk Harvest Fest - Kennebunk, ME - Oct 1 to Oct 1, 2016
Features include a pancake breakfast, book sale, farmers market, kid’s activities area, costume parade, zombie walk, wagon rides, and live music.

Oktoberfest by the Bay - Belfast, ME - Oct 1 to Oct 1, 2016
4th annual event.

Fryeburg Fair - Fryeburg, ME - Oct 2 to Oct 9, 2016
Livestock exhibition, parade, competitions like the Fireman’s Muster and the Skillet Throw, midway rides and carnival games. Admission is $10 a day.

Acadia Oktoberfest - Southwest Harbor, ME - Oct 7 to Oct 8, 2016
The first day of this celebration, Friday from 4-6 PM, is the 7th Annual Wine & Cheese Festival. Tickets are $15 per person or $27 per couple and includes program and wine tasting glass. The weekend is Acadia’s 21st Annual Oktoberfest. Location: Smuggler’s Den Campground 20 Main St, Southwest Harbor, ME 04679

Sunday River Fall Festival Weekend - Newry, ME - Oct 8 to Oct 9, 2016
North American Wife Carrying Championship, Kids’ Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest, New England Corn Hold Championship, Blue Mountain Arts and Crafts Fair. Wine Tent, Sunday Bloody Sunday Tent. Concerts on Saturday and Sunday. Scenic Chairlift Rides to the Peak Lodge, free wagon rides and more.

Swine and Stein Oktoberfest - Gardiner, ME - Oct 8 to Oct 8, 2016
A street party on Water Street in Gardiner to celebrate Maine craft beer, Maine musicians, and Maine pork products. If Oktoberfest had its history rooted in Maine, this is how the worldwide party would go. Location: Water St, Gardiner, ME 04345

York Harvestfest & Kidfest - York Beach, ME - Oct 15 to Oct 15, 2016
32nd annual event on the weekend after Columbus Day. Held from 9 AM to 4 PM. Live performances by Don Campbell Band and Something in the Water, food, kids games, and horse-drawn wagon rides. Public parking at York’s Wild Animal Kingdom.

Great Maine Apple Day - Unity, ME - Oct 16 to Oct 16, 2016
Workshops, cider-pressing, orchard tour and delicious treats at the Common Ground Education Center. Admission is $2 (members) or $4 (non-members).

Harvest on the Harbor - Portland, ME - Oct 20 to Oct 23, 2016
Culinary creations from Maine’s top chefs. Events include sampling at the marketplace, the Maine Lobster Chef of the Year Competition, and Grand Tasting on the Harbor (wine, beer and spirits with views of Casco Bay while enjoying morsels from notable Maine chefs).

Pumpkin decorating, scarecrow contest, costume parade, classic car show, craft show, wagon rides and more.

Marshwood Education Foundation Oktoberfest - Eliot, ME - Oct 28 to Oct 28, 2016
Back again is the annual Oktoberfest fundraiser for the Marshwood Education Foundation. Appetizers and desserts from local chefs, live music, DJ, dancing and live auction with games and prizes. Activities kick off at 7:00 pm.

Maine Harvest Festival - Bangor, ME - Nov 19 to Nov 20, 2016
Cooking demonstrations, pie contest, live music, local wines and beers. Located at the Cross Insurance Center.

Harvestfest and Chowdah Cookoff – Bethel, ME – September 19, 2015
Chowdah cookoff, apple pie contest, scarecrow contest and other events to celebrate the harvest.

Saddleback Fall Festival – Saddleback, ME – September 20, 2015
Visit the ski mountain for arts & crafts, food, live music, children’s pie eating contest and other fall activities like a pumpkin patch.

October 2015:

Northern Berkshire Fall Foliage Festival and Parade – North Adams – October 4, 2015

November 2015:

Waterville Parade of Lights – Waterville, ME – Nov 27, 2015
Annual community holiday parade starting at 6 pm on the Friday after Thanksgiving.
