2024 Festivals

Great Northwest Oktoberfest - Whitefish, MT - Sep 26 to Oct 5, 2024
Two weekends of German fun under the Oktoberfest Bigtop in downtown Whitefish. German beer and local beer, German food, music and the chicken dance, along with contests for keg throwing, stein holding, brat eating, log sawing and more. Food options include brats, potato salad, sauerkraut, pretzels and sweet & sour red cabbage. They have had German sausage corndogs for kids in the past. Apple strudel and German chocolate cookie available for dessert. Admission is $4 per day. Kids under 12 are free when accompanied by a parent. Location: 510 Railway St Whitefish, Montana 59937

Hosted by the Copper Village Museum and Art Center, this events features crafts, a farmers market, and a German style lunch

HarvestFest - Billings, MT - Oct 14, 2023
Arts & crafts, fresh produce (including fall favorites like mums and pumpkins), farmer’s market, food trucks, pumpkin pie baking contest, merchant gift basket raffle, children’s activities, live entertainment with fiddlers and dancers, vendors and more. Attended by more than 5,000.

Watch screenings of new independent films plus the work of emerging artists.

Germanfest - Missoula, MT - Oct 7, 2023
A free German festival in Caras Park. Traditional food, beer, music, folk dancing, chicken dance, keg tapping, commemorative steins and kids activities.

McIntosh Apple Day - Hamilton, MT - Oct 7, 2023
Bake sale, arts & crafts, food and produce from the Hamilton Farmers Market. It is followed by Liquid Apple Night, a hard cider fest with local food, cider and music.

Townsend Fall Fest and Oktoberfest - Townsend, MT - Sep 29 to Oct 1, 2023
Friday features live music, car show, kids activities, hay sculpture contest, vendors, and more! Saturday of the Townsend Fall Fest is Oktoberfest (though they reportedly have beer and brats along with live music on Friday evening as well). Military Parade starts downtown at 11 AM. Art & Craft Fair has approximately 80 craft vendors. Enjoy Rotary’s Famous Brats & Beer as well as live music and kids games. Approximately 15,000 people attend each year. On Sunday, there is an antique and classic car show. More than 200 cars were displayed last year. Townsend is located in southwest Montana between Helena and Bozeman. A two-day Oktoberfest-style event with Scandinavian flair! The festival will feature live German music, traditional and contemporary cuisine, games and activities for all ages, arts and crafts vendors, and an adult competition for the chance at the NorsktOber Trophy!

MINT Film Festival - Billings, MT - Sep 21 to Sep 24, 2023
Montana International (MINT) is a five day film festival, organized by filmmakers for filmmakers. Enjoy premieres (past premieres include Stanley Tucci and Emma Thompson in The Children Act), walk the red carpet, and visit panel discussions, after parties and more.

Kootenai Harvest Festival - Libby, MT - Sep 16, 2023
The Harvest Festival offers local shopping, music, a community grown and prepared Harvest Meal, a Harvest Dance performance, plus interactive games and activities for kids. The Harvest Meal will be served starting at noon and will offer on-site eating or take-home options.

Havre Festival Days - Havre, MT - Sep 15 to Sep 17, 2023
Started in 1960 to help Havre finish the summer. Collectible buttons and beer mug, 48 hour softball tournament, quilt show, book sale, pancake breakfast, parade, burger feed and bingo, craft festival, run/walk, and more

Boulder Music & Art Festival - Boulder, MT - Sep 9, 2023
Head to Veterans Park for food vendors, authors, arts and crafts, live local music, dancing, and more! This free family friendly event is an outdoor festival, so bring a chair and your dancing shoes! Free admission. Always the first full weekend in September after Labor Day.

Chokecherry Festival - Lewistown, MT - Sep 9, 2023
Held in the Chokecherry Capitol of Montana and attended by more than 4,000. A chokecherry is a small, maroon-colored fruit with a bitter taste that grows wild in Montana, and can be used in making syrups, jams and jellies, wines, and other delicious foods. The day’s events start out with a pancake breakfast from the Kiwanis Club, pit spitting contests, live entertainment, culinary contests, children’s activities, 5k and 10k, arts & crafts booths, food vendors and more! This annual festival is held in the geographical center of the state, in a town declared by a past governor to be the Chokecherry Capitol of Montana (Stan Stephens, 1991).

Red Lodge Oktoberfest - Red Lodge, MT - Sep 9, 2023
Annual Oktoberfest for 20+ years will take place at Red Lodge Ales Brewing Company from 2 until 9 PM. German beers, German food, live music and Oktoberfest Olympics. Food options include bratwurst, sauerkraut, pretzels and strudel. Olympics includes keg toss, scavenger hunt and tug-of-war. Family friendly with kids games as well. For children, there is a bounce house, face painting, hair braiding and temporary tattoos. Red Lodge Ales will be selling its signature Oktoberfest lager. Best costume winners receive prizes from local retailers. Admission is free.

Come on down to Centennial Farm for lots of music, athletics, wares, food, dancing and Celtic cultural heritage. Enjoy bagpipes, childrens games, and learn about Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Brittany and more.
