There are lots of fall Illinois festivals.  Enjoy one of them after you have finished celebrating Oktoberfest in Illinois. In addition to the harvest festivals, you’ll also enjoy the scarecrow festival and pumpkin festivals here.

Geneva Kite Festival – Chicago, IL – Aug 20, 2016
A free Kite Festival at the Peck Farm Park athletic fields.

Chicago Jazz Festival – Chicago, IL – September 1-4, 2016
Free live jazz music by local and national artists in Millenium Park over Labor Day weekend.

National Sweetcorn Festival – Hoopeston, IL – Sept 1-5, 2016
A carnival, parade and demolition derby in the Sweetcorn Capitol.  50 tons of sweetcorn are cooked with an antique steam engine and handed out free.

Taste of Polonia – Jefferson Park (Chicago) – Sept 2-5, 2016
This annual Labor Day weekend festival at the Copernicus Center in Chicago’s Jefferson Park offers live music, Polish food, and fun for four days.
North Coast Music Festival – Chicago, IL – September 2-4, 2016

Frankfort Fall Festival – Frankfort, IL – September 3-5, 2016
Over 300,000 flock to this charming village over Labor Day Weekend.

Sandwich Fair – Sandwich, IL – September 7-11, 2016
The Dekalb County fair is the oldest continuing fair in the State of Illinois.  It is also the largest display of agricultural and home arts exhibits in the Midwest.

Midwest Wizard of Oz Festival – Orland Park, IL – September 9-11, 2016
The event, which started in 1982, has been moved to Tinley Park (Chicago) to celebrate the classic American movie.

Cedarhurst Art & Craft Fair – Sept 9-11, 2016
Look for over 120 artists to be showcased with glass, ceramics, jewelry, fiber, wood, basketry and leather, two-dimensional art and more.

Wings Over Waukegan – Waukegan, IL – September 10, 2016

Mundelein Arts Festival – Sept 10-11, 2016

Murphysboro Apple Festival – Murphysboro, IL – September  14-17, 2016
The oldest and largest alcohol free festival in southern Illinois – it draws over 45,000 a year to the various events, including car show, parade and carnival.

Morton Pumpkin Festival – Morton, IL – September 14-17, 2016
Celebrating 50 years of the pumpkin harvest and canning at the Pumpkin Capital of the World.  An estimated 70,000 attend the carnival, parades and other activities.

Italian Festival – Collinsville – Sept 16-17, 2016
Celebrate the Italian culture and heritage at a family friendly event in Uptown Collinsville.

Riot Fest – Chicago, IL – September 16-18, 2016
A three-day music festival featuring various forms of punk at Douglas Park.

Des Plaines Family Festival – Des Plaines, IL – September 16-18, 2016
Free admission, musical entertainment and parking at this Lake Park fair with carnival, KidZone, car show, festival food, pie eating contest and open air market.

Shrimp Festival – Golconda, IL – Sept 17, 2016
Eat shrimp from the Southern Illinois Prawn Growers and enjoy local wines.

Quad Cities Balloon Fest – Moline, IL – September 23-24, 2016
Hot air balloon festival at Rock Island County Fairgrounds.  Admission is FREE – in lieu of admission they ask for a donation of non-perishable food items to support the River Bend Foodbank.

Highwood Pumpkin Festival – Highwood, IL – October 9-11, 2015
This fan favorite event is held to not only break the Guinness World Record of 30,581 for most pumpkins carved in one place, but to take it a step further by lighting a pumpkin for everyone affected by autism in Illinois- a staggering 52,000 individuals! Imagine pumpkins lining the streets on scaffolding towering over 30 feet lit and synced to music. It’s a site to behold and the ultimate
family event! Brian Larsen the winner of ABC’s “The Great Christmas Light Fight” will be onsite setting the majestic lit pumpkin walls to an incredible set list, there will also be pumpkin seed spitting, pumpkin pie eating contests, carnival rides, a corn maze, live entertainment from two stages, and more!
