Fall Alabama Festivals
September and October are busy times for fall festivals in Alabama. You’ll find plenty of them to keep you occupied. From the Bayfest Music Festival to the Greater Gulf State Fair, you can run from event to event if you want. And that’s assuming that you have already celebrated Oktoberfest in Alabama.

Seafood Festival – Guntersville, Alabama – September 3, 2016
The Saint William Seafood Festival has been ongoing for over 45 years. You are going to love the Cajun boiled shrimp, Gumbo, chicken and catfish dinners.
Sweet Tater Festival – Cullman, Alabama – September 4, 2016
A reporter on AL.com called this the greatest event south of the Mason-Dixon Line. But be warned: he couldn’t find any sweet taters while there in 2014.
Foothills Festival – Jasper, AL – Sept 9-10, 2016
Free live music concert and local vendors at Courthouse Square in downtown Jasper.
Middle Eastern Food Festival – Birmingham – September 8-10, 2016
Celebrate 36 years of the Saint George’s annual festival. Lots of great food and fun.
Oka Kapassa Native American festival – Tuscumbia, Al – Sept 9-10, 2016
A two day gathering celebrating the culture and traditions of Native Americans in Spring Park.
Riverfest Barbecue Cook-off – Decatur – September 9-10, 2016
Over 70 professional and amateur BBQ cooking teams compete for prizes. Recognized as an official State Barbecue Championship competition.
Depot Days Festival – Hartselle, AL – Sept 10-17, 2016
Features a pageant, zombie chase, live music concert, half marathon, art show, tractor show, bike show, local foods and lots of arts and crafts.
International Festival of North Alabama – Huntsville – Sept 17, 2016
Enjoy the International cuisine, food trucks, live music, kids activities, open air market and more. Held at the UAH Fitness Center.
Monte Sano Art Festival – Huntsville, AL – Sept 17-18, 2016
Enjoy handmade artwork amidst the natural beauty of the state park.
North Alabama State Fair – Muscle Shoals – Sept 20-25, 2016
One of the largest annual events in North Alabama with attendance of approximately 80,000. It started in 1935.
Homestead Hollow Arts & Crafts Festival – Springville, AL – September 23-25, 2016
Hokes Bluff CityFest – Hokes Bluff, AL – Saturday, September 24, 2016
Bands, Carnival Rides, Food and Retail Vendors. Runs from 2:00 – 10:00 PM. Held at Hokes Bluff City Park.
Irondale Whistle Stop Festival – Irondale, AL – Sept 24, 2016
A free event with live music and arts/crafts. Don’t forget to try the famous fried green tomatoes at the Irondale cafe!
Alabama Butterbean Festival – Pinson, AL – Sept 30 – October 1, 2016
A free family event for fans of the yummy legume.
Madison Street Festival – Madison, AL – October 1, 2016

Alabama Coastal BirdFest – Fairhope – Oct 5-8, 2016
Great for birders with lots of workshops, speakers, trips, conservation Expo, and more.
Boaz Harvest Festival – Boaz, AL – October 7-8, 2016
Features include an antique car show, over 400 arts and craft vendors, food, pageant, pie eating contest, live music entertainment, fun run and so much more.
Evergreen Sausage Festival – Evergreen, AL – Oct 8, 2016
A bbq cook-off and arts/crafts event.
Headland Harvest Day Festival – Headland, AL – October 8, 2016
Held at downtown square it has arts and craft vendors, car show, live entertainment, food vendors and lots of games and rides.
National Shrimp Festival – Gulf Shores, AL – October 13-16, 2016
45th annual event on the beaches of Gulf Shores attracting 250,000 people. Free admission.
Thorsby Swedish Fest – Thorsby, AL – Oct 15, 2016
Enjoy the beauty pageant, car show, viking run, and parade.
Alabama Gourd Show – Cullman, AL – October 15-16, 2016
Gourd Round Up with this annual event featuring art and craft made with gourds.

Alabama Renaissance Faire – Florence – October 22-23, 2016
30,000 to 40,000 visit Wilson Park for this event with a medieval/renaissance theme, beautiful fall foliage and free admission.
Greater Gulf State Fair – Mobile, AL – Oct 28 – Nov 6, 2016
A fair for residents of South Alabama, Northwest Florida and Southeast Mississippi that was started in 1955 by the Mobile Jaycees.
Fairhope Veterans Day Parade – November 5, 2016
Elberta German Sausage Festival – Elberta, AL – Oct 29, 2016
Alabama Frontier Days – Wetumpka, AL – Nov 2-5, 2016
This event demonstrates life in the South in the 18th and early 19th Century.
National Peanut Festival – Dothan, AL – November 4-13, 2016
The nation’s largest peanut festival celebrates the harvest. One-quarter of the U.S. peanut crop is harvested within 75 miles of Dothan.
National Veterans Day Parade – Birmingham, AL – November 11, 2016
Our military veterans are still honored with a parade at the home of the first Veterans Day.

Peanut Boil Festival – Luverne, Alabama – Sept 26, 2015
The Crenshaw County Shrine Club has been boiling and bagging peanuts for this event since 1970. It has been called the World’s Largest Peanut Boil.

Downtown Boll Weevil Festival – Enterprise, AL – Oct 17, 2015
Some say that the statute in Enterprise is the only one in the world dedicated to an insect pest. The destruction of the cotton crop led to greater agricultural diversity and prosperity.
Covered Bridge Festival – Oneonta, AL – Oct 24, 2015
An event to celebrate the covered bridge capital of Alabama. It has been going on for more than 30 years.
