Michigan Peach Festival - Romeo, MI - Sep 1 to Sep 5, 2016

Frankenmuth Oktoberfest - Frankenmuth, MI - Sep 15 to Sep 18, 2016
Growing up in Metro Detroit, we always made an annual trip to Frankenmuth in the fall to enjoy the German food in in Michigan’s Little Bavaria. This is the only Oktoberfest outside of Munich to be sanctioned by them. The 26th annual event will have live music from German bands, polka dancing and wiener dog races at the Harvey Kern Community Pavilion. In 2014, the opening ceremony was on Thursday night at 7 PM. Organizers generally expect between 8,000 and 10,000 to be there over the course of the weekend. Parking is free and adult admission is $8 with no charge on Sunday. Dakota Inn is an authentic German bar created by a Highland Park Ford factory worker in the 1930s in an old Chinese hand laundry. It is operated by the founder’s grandson and listed on the State Register of Historic Sites.

Rochester Mills Beer Oktoberfest - Rochester, MI - Sep 22 to Sep 24, 2016
The event traditionally runs Thursday through Sunday and celebrates the unveiling of their seasonal Oktoberfest lager brewed in-house. Ceremonial keg tapping on Thursday evening. Friday and Saturday has brat & kraut eating contests and a stein hoisting competition. Live, traditional German music throughout the celebration as well as scheduled bavarian dancing. A one litre beer stein has historically been available for collectors to purchase. For the first year in 2013, a carnival was hosted by the Rochester Hills Lions Club in conjunction with the event. Carnival games, moonwalks, pony rides, a petting zoo, a climbing wall, clowns, and temporary-tattoo artists were available for families to enjoy. In 2011, they served up 72 kegs of beer, more than 100 bottles of wine, 2000 bratwurst and 200 pounds of sauerkraut.

This Lansing Oktoberfest is the 11th annual Mid-Michigan German Oktoberfest. It’s a two day event with German food, live music, dancing and beer. Tickets are $15 in advance and include souvenir beer mug and three food & drink tickets. Tickets are $20 at the door. Saturday admission is free if you show up with an intact wristband and your souvenir mug from Friday. Strictly 21+. This festival is a fundraiser for the Old Town Community Association. Oktoberfest Music and Craft Beer Festival - Ludington, MI - Oct 7 to Oct 8, 2016
2016 will be their fourth annual event sponsored by Bell’s Brewing. Live music and craft beer on Saturday. Pub crawl on Friday night. Sample free chili at the Saturday chili walk. German attire encouraged! Art activities and free pumpkin decorating for kids on Saturday. Tickets usually go on sale online around August 1st. There is free on-street parking and several free public parking lots near the festival. General admission (two drink tickets) is $20 before October 1st and $25 after. VIP Admission (online only) is $40 and includes beer stein, Friday evening beer school and two drink tickets. Location: The Parking Lot to the South of the Community Garden. Walk-in Entrance is the West Alley near the intersection of Rath Ave and Ludington Ave.

Pentwater Oktoberfest - Pentwater, MI - Oct 7 to Oct 8, 2016
An annual fall event since 1997. The tentative schedule for 2014 has been posted. Friday night will have bingo at the VFW Hall and Comedy Night at Village Cafe & Pub. Saturday will have a number of events including classic car & hot rod show, chili cook-off, and Italian wine tasting. Pumpkin and face painting in the morning for kids. Games in the early afternoon include barrel race, Sprint for the Stein and egg toss. The entertainment tent will show both Michigan State and Michigan football. Polka dance contest, chicken dance contest and live music on Saturday evening. Events are located around Village Green, a park in downtown Pentwater located on the west side of Hancock (Main) Street.

In celebration of the harvest in Southwest Michigan, this one day event boasts over 30 of the best wines from several local vineyards along with four craft beers, and hard ciders all under one roof! Detroit Fall Beer Festival - Detroit, MI - Oct 21 to Oct 22, 2016
One of the largest all-Michigan beer tastings. Expect 600 craft beers from 75 breweries. Ticket sales start August 4th.

Ludington Arts Center Holiday Craft Show - Ludington, MI - Nov 26 to Nov 26, 2016

Port Huron Hobo Fest - Port Huron, MI - Sep 8 to Sep 9, 2017
The Port Huron and Detroit Railroad Historical Society will host Hobo Fest 2017 on Friday, September 8 from 6:30 – 9:30 & Saturday, September 9 at 10:00 am – 5:00 pm at the former property of The Port Huron & Detroit Railroad, located at 2100 32nd Street in Port Huron. The event celebrates Port Huron’s history as a vital international transport center, the city’s struggle to overcome the economic depression and the courage and resourcefulness of those that rode the rails seeking work and adventure. On Friday evening the traditional lighting of the campfire will be held at 6:30 pm. The Hobo Royalty will be crowned at 7:00 pm. Musicians will perform acoustic around the campfire. Educational and exciting railroad videos will be shown at 7:30 pm. On Saturday the 13TH annual hobo gathering will feature a Spam carving contest and cook off, acoustic music, children’s activities and much more. Hobo Fest is a FREE family friendly, educational event that brings people together of all ages to experience the life and adventures of the hobo. Hobo Fest takes place rain or shine so please bring lawn chairs and dress casually according to the weather. * This is a free event. However, donations are gratefully accepted and are tax deductible. 100% of all proceeds are used to restore the buildings and expand our archives & collection.

We know that you want current events. But we often don’t have dates for the current year. We leave those events with their link here so that you can look for the new dates yourself. We hope you don’t mind!

September 2015:

Taste of Traverse City – Traverse City, MI – September 18-20, 2015
Friday night is the Grub Crawl. Saturday is the Great Lakes Foodie Fest. Sunday is the Best of the Brunch.

Bangor Apple Festival – Bangor, MI – October 3, 2015
Car show, lawnmower race, kid’s activities, live entertainment and more. Event has been going on for more than 35 years.

Fremont Harvest Festival – Fremont, MI – September 24-26, 2015
Event includes parade, Taste of Fremont, antique tractor show, beverage tent, unique treasure sale and kid’s activities (Saturday).

Diehl’s Ciderfest – Holly, MI – September 26-27, 2015
34th annual event. Craft show, 1 and 4 mile runs, live entertainment, hayrides and more. Free admission.

Castle Farms Harvest Festival – Charlevoix, MI – September 27, 2015
Arts & crafts, horse-drawn wagon rides, games, face painting, magic show and more. Free cider and donuts. Admission is $10. Guided historical tour for $2 more. Hours are 11 AM to 4 PM.

October 2015

Crabby Clam & Lobster Fest – Frankenmuth, MI – October 9-10, 2015
The River Place Shops hosts this dinner to benefit the Johnny Burke Children’s Foundation.

Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival – Alpena, MI – October 8-11, 2015
Tour 11 lighthouses during this four day event. Lighthouses from Tawas to Mackinaw will be open. Main activities are held at the APLEX Event Center. The President of the American Lighthouse Magazine said that there is no festival like it in the United States.

Lansing Apple Butter Festival – Lansing, MI – October 10-11, 2015
Annual event for 40+ years at the Fenner Nature Center. Stir the apple butter, pumpkin carving contest, live music, cider press demonstrations and more. Free entry. Parking is $5 per car.
