Fall Michigan Festivals
Michigan has the standard complement of fall and harvest festivals to choose from during September and October 2016. But that doesn’t mean that Michigan runs out of fun stuff after Oktoberfest in Michigan finishes. Try the Lighthouse festival for one of the nation’s more unique festivals.

Weekends + Labor Day and Friday, Sept 30th.
Michigan Peach Festival – Romeo, MI – Sept 1-5, 2016
Celebrate the edible juicy fruit over Labor Day Weekend. Parade, car show, photo contests, 5K/10K runs, carnival games and other activities.
Detroit Jazz Festival – Detroit, MI – Sept 2-5, 2016
An annual jazz music festival in Hart Plaza over Labor Day Weekend. It is the self-proclaimed world’s largest free jazz festival.
Michigan State Fair – Novi, MI – Sept 1-5, 2016
Agricultural activities, carnival, pig races, craft beer pavilion and other events. Nearly 100,000 attended last year’s event. Located at the Suburban Collection Showplace.
Marquette Area Blues Fest – Marquette, MI – Sept 2-4, 2016
A free event on Friday that is open to the public with great music performances. Saturday and Sunday are ticketed events with top name blues entertainers. Held at Mattson Lower Harbor Park.
Newaygo Logging Festival – Sept 2-4, 2016
Arts, Beats & Eats – Royal Oak, MI – Sept 2-5, 2016
Labor day weekend features Oakland County’s favorite summer festival. Offers over 200 performances across 9 stages in downtown Royal Oak. Lots of local restaurants, fine arts show, vendors, and more. Over 380,000 vistors attended this event last year.

Hamtramck Labor Day Festival – Sept 3-5, 2016
A huge attraction in the heart of the Detroit area. Features lots of live music, carnival rides, great food, vendors, beer tent, Artist’s Village, Polish Day Parade, canoe races, 5k run and so much more.
Port Huron Hobo Fest – Port Huron, MI – Sept 9-10, 2016
Hosted by the Port Huron and Detroit Railroad Historical Society in Port Huron. A family friendly event with education that brings people together of all ages to experience the hobo lifestyle. Also music, kid’s games, spam carving and more.
Posen Potato Festival – Posen, MI – Sept 9-11, 2016
An annual event on the weekend after Labor Day in Presque Isle County celebrating the potato and the Polish heritage of the area. Includes parade, carnival and potato cooking contest. It has been going on for more than 50 years.
Art & Apples Festival – Rochester, MI – Sept 9-11, 2016
Over 290 exhibiting artists transform the 30 acre Rochester Park. Experience the fine artwork, the main stage sounds, fresh apple treats, Kids Art Zone and great festival food. An annual event held for over 50 years.

Old Car Festival – Henry Ford Greenfield Village, September 10-11, 2016
America’s longest running antique car show at an unbelievable place to spend an afternoon. It features authentic vehicles from the 1890’s through 1932. Also live music and dance tunes at an evening performance at the village.
Boating & Outdoor Festival – Lake St. Clair Metropark – Sept 15-18, 2016
Features exhibits, live music, beer tents, food, and family fun. Oh yes and a terrific boat show for all outdoor enthusiasts.

Marquette Area Blues Fest – Marquette, MI – September 2-4, 2016
Held at Mattson Lower Harbor Park over Labor Day Weekend. Free admission on Friday. Live Music, food and music/dance workshops. After party and blues jam.
Saline Fair – Saline, MI – August 31 – September 4, 2016
A community fair located southwest of Ann Arbor at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds. This is the 81st year for the fair which includes agricultural events, pageant, demolition derby, live music and other activities.
Michigan Bean Festival – Fairgrove, MI – Sept 2-5, 2016
40,000+ attend this annual festival that has been going on for nearly 70 years. Highlights include the Michigan Bean Queen pageant, parade, car show and go cart races.

Scottville Harvest Festival – Scottville, MI – September 15-17, 2016

Howard City Harvest Festival – Howard City, MI – September 16-17, 2016

Romulus Pumpkin Festival – Romulus, MI – September 18-20, 2015
A three day street festival on the third weekend in September that has been going on for 35+ years. It starts with a night “parade of lights”.

Friday night is the Grub Crawl. Saturday is the Great Lakes Foodie Fest. Sunday is the Best of the Brunch.
New Era Fall Street Festival – New Era, MI – September 19, 2015
Earthwork Harvest Gathering – Lake City, MI – September 16-18, 2016
Celebration of food, music and artisan culture. Camp among the hardwood forests and meadows of Earthwork Farms annually on the third weekend in September.
Bangor Apple Festival – Bangor, MI – October 3, 2015
Car show, lawnmower race, kid’s activities, live entertainment and more. Event has been going on for more than 35 years.
Annual Herb & Gourd Fest – Grand Rapids, MI – September 19-20, 2015
The Michigan Gourd Society holds this event at Meijer Gardens. Gourd art and demonstrations, vendors.
Fremont Harvest Festival – Fremont, MI – September 24-26, 2015
Event includes parade, Taste of Fremont, antique tractor show, beverage tent, unique treasure sale and kid’s activities (Saturday).
Clinton Fall Festival – Clinton, MI – September 23-25, 2016
Arts & crafts, live entertainment, carnival rides, car show and a small rodeo.
South Lyon Pumpkinfest – South Lyon, MI – September 23-25, 2016
Parade, children’s activities, craft show, live music, food and more at this event going on for more than 30 years. More than 55,000 people attended in 2014.
Cadillac Craft Beer Festival – Cadillac, MI – Sept 24, 2016
Held in City Park. The beer fest is a 21+ only event. Homebrew competition, live music and yard games. Classic Car Show on Sunday.

Castle Farms Harvest Festival – Charlevoix, MI – September 27, 2015
Arts & crafts, horse-drawn wagon rides, games, face painting, magic show and more. Free cider and donuts. Admission is $10. Guided historical tour for $2 more. Hours are 11 AM to 4 PM.
Zeeland Pumpkinfest – Zeeland, MI – October 1-3, 2015
Family fun and fall activities for more than 30 years.
Scarecrow Festival – Trenton, Michigan – October 2-4, 2015
14th annual event. Carnival, entertainment, arts & crafts, Highland games/Strongman contest, eating contest and dog costume contest. Free admission, free parking.
Empire Hops Festival – Empire, MI – October 1, 2016
Runs from noon thru 9 PM. Entree fee includes complimentary glass and drink tickets. Free parking in Johnson Park.
Brews and Blues Festival – Adrian, MI – October 3, 2015
Founded in 2012. Live music, sample beers. Held on Toledo Street at the Pavilian from 4-10 PM.
Alpaca Fest – Dimondale, MI – October 1-2, 2016
An alpaca show at The Summit Sports and Ice Complex.
Scarecrow Fest – Frankenmuth, MI – October 15-16 & 22-23, 2016
This event spans two weekends in downtown Frankenmuth. Vote for your favorite scarecrow and enjoy the many activities including pumpkin catapult, pumpkin bowling and pumpkin painting.
Crabby Clam & Lobster Fest – Frankenmuth, MI – October 9-10, 2015
The River Place Shops hosts this dinner to benefit the Johnny Burke Children’s Foundation.
Color Cruise & Island Festival – Grand Ledge, MI – October 9-11, 2015
A three day festival on the second weekend in October at Island Park in downtown Grand Ledge. Enjoy the beautiful fall colors as well as cider pressing, pumpkin painting, car show and other activities.
Fall on the Island Festival – Drummond Island, MI – October 9-11, 2015
7th annual event. Golf outing, 5K Walk/Run, live entertainment including dueling pianos. Taste of Drummond, live music, artisan vendors, cornhole tournament, pub crawl and more.
Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival – Alpena, MI – October 8-11, 2015
Tour 11 lighthouses during this four day event. Lighthouses from Tawas to Mackinaw will be open. Main activities are held at the APLEX Event Center. The President of the American Lighthouse Magazine said that there is no festival like it in the United States.
Harvest and Wine Festival – New Buffalo, MI – October 10, 2015
In celebration of the harvest in Southwest Michigan, this one day event boasts over 30 of the best wines from several local vineyards along with four craft beers, and hard ciders all under one roof! Come rain or shine, the event is tented so you can come out and stay all day! $5 donation suggested per adult at the gate, kids under 12 are free! Event will feature live music, tastings and wine/beer by the glass available from eight local wineries and two craft breweries, kids activities, horse drawn hay rides driven throughout New Buffalo,
craft vendors offering handcrafted goods, food products, and produce for you to purchase throughout the event.

Made in Michigan Film Festival – Frankenmuth, MI – October 16-17, 2015
7th annual event exclusively Michigan made films. Held at the Bronner Performing Arts Center, a 500 seat theater.
Glass Pumpkin Fest – Dearborn, MI – October 17-18 & 24-25, 2015
7th annual event. First weekend is in Dearborn, second weekend held in Ann Arbor. Watch glassblowing demonstrations. Free admission.
Detroit Fall Beer Festival – Detroit, MI – October 23-24, 2015
One of the largest all-Michigan beer tastings. Expect 600 craft beers from 75 breweries. Ticket sales start July 30.
